I\'m trying to get from New York to a university in Philadelphia.

The grey hound buses take 6-15 hours to get from here to there.

And they cost 70$.

I called grey hound and they told me it was because the Bus stops over and waits 5 hours for a transfer at New Rochelle.

Even if we go to New Rochelle first, the first bus doesn\'t arrive untill 1 pm and is a 6 hour trip.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Why are you asking advice for traveling 6 hours and one state away?  First time away from home?  When I read the title I thought you were going on a real trip.

Flying would be cheaper than a Taxi most likely.  Take a train - Amtrak is all over the Northeast corridor.

Drive yourself or rent a car.  Is that out of the question for some reason?

He is catching the bus so he does not have a car I assume. I say just catch the bus. First time I came home from school took me 5 hours on the bus to get home.

Im not going to college, im going to a college for other reasons.

I\'m 16, no car.

I\'m thinking I\'m just going to try and get a ride from someone else if possible.

If not, I dunno.

bus = trailer trash.  Don\'t do it.

If you\'re only 16 chances are it\'s not worth the trip.

What part of NY are you in?

Go to Chinatown in NYC, by the Manhattan Bridge, and find the buses that make multiple daily trips to Boston, Philly, and DC...

Much cheaper than Greyhound...
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.
