Using Maya and Cinema4D OpenGL, I have always had Nvidia cards.

Right now I enjoy the HDR effects in the Splinter Cell 3 demo. The game won\'t feature a sm2.0b code solution for Ati\'s cards. Like SC3, Age of Empires 3 looks to become a game which goes the sm3.0 way for effects like fp16 HDR blending. I think it\'s a combinated result of sm3.0 being more cost and time efficient for game devs and also Nvidia\'s very good TWIMTBP lobby which provides all the tools.

So, my videocard history is like this (yes there\'s a big chronological gap becuz I had a few years of console gaming only) :

- S3 Trio64+
- 3Dfx Voodoo 1
- Creative 3D Blaster Geforce 2GTS later softmodded into Quadro2Pro
- PNY QuadroFX1000
- Gainward golden sample Geforce6800GT

I was a big ATI fan back when the 9700 and 9800\'s were the shit.  But when it came time to build my first PC "gaming" system nVidia looked like the way to go.  Don\'t really have a preference for either company, I just go with who I think has the superior hardware (for what I can afford.... X800XTpe is just a little too far out there pricewise for me)

I try to go with a good 2d performer and I still have my gf2 series racism of under saturated nvidia colors. (I know it\'s gone but hate still lurks in me :p)

But now I just go with what I can afford and works....currently ATi

Always had an Nvidia card but I got burned with the FX series and almost went with an ATI card this generation. But after my brother bought one and complained about sucky drivers (no component signal TV-out support AFAIK) I had to go with an Nvidia one. I use TV-Out a lot and I get b/w picture on my TV if the vidcard can\'t send out a component signal. Otherwise I\'d have an ATI right now.

Much closer battle than AMD vs Intel, definitely.

I picked nVidia, but ATi is practically as good. Each has their tradeoffs.

Lets level the field eh. I think ATI is pretty strong. I remember hearing all these good things about ATI years ago. That and I still hold a grudge against NVIDIA for killing off the voodoo\'s even though you had to dl a million drivers to get the g forces right back then (jk).

I dont know when my image of NVIDIA became tainted but i really used to like them back in the day because the geforce was so fast when compared to the voodoo.
