PSP video conversion tools.
« on: April 11, 2005, 10:10:40 AM »
I thought we could share experiences of converting videos to the PSP.

I mainly use this software:
PSP Video 9 http://www.pspvideo9.com/

Its free, and has a wide range of options for converting videos to the PSP supported format. Its very easy to use.

iPSP is another software, but it costs money unlike PSP Video9 which is freeware.

I haven’t been able to get it to work as the program fails to load.

I mostly watch TV shows (Simpsons, CSI, The Shield etc) on the PSP.. I find the "320x240 512kbps @ 15fps and 96kbps or 64kbps Stereo sound" setting to be the most useful.
I have noticed a problem where the audio would become de-synced (the video would lag behind), right now Im not sure if I am doing something wrong or if its a software problem with the PSP.
Have any of you noticed this problem? One way to temporarily fix this is to Pause the video, when you un-pause it should be synced again.

Is there a setting for constant bitrate (CBR) or Variable bitrate (VBR/ABR) for the audio?  Encoding videos on the computer with VBR audio has given me some sync issues in the past.  If it lets you, try CBR.

THX: There is no option for that sadly.. I would think it is locked at the bitrate though.

I\'ll see if I can find anything out in the PSP Video9 forums.

EDIT: The problem is not with the PSP or PSP Video 9, but with FFMPEG.
