Got a XpertVision 6600GT AGP card.
« on: April 18, 2005, 01:07:12 AM »
Got the card for 266AUD. (very good price, they fucked up ;))
I didn\'t want to pay 650 for the 6800GT card.
Getting full frames on everything i\'ve played it on. Doom3, Kotor2, Unreal2, Swat4, Hitman Contacts, Halo, MOH PA, Brothers in Arms etc.

Great card. I had to edit the cards bios to enable temperature reading. Waiting for Arctic cooling to release a VGA cooler for the 6600GT AGP cards, Then i\'ll overclock it to 600/1000.

If you\'re looking for a cheap kickass card. Go grab a 6600GT card.

Congrats with the card ! Good price indeed, but imo 650 for a 6800GT isn\'t a bad price either.

You tried Chaos Theory on that 6600GT already btw ? And which drivers are you using ? My GT\'s on 76.44 right now and imo they\'re great. Alot of ppl seem to like the new official 71.89 though.

Btw. does the card itself look cool or is it pure reference design ?

Costs $266 like i said avvy

This is the only pic i could find, it isn\'t based on nvidias reference design.  The heat sink covers the mem, gpu and HSI bridge chip.  So everything is cooled, but i would still like to use a better cooler to overclock it.

I\'m using 71.89 drivers. Sc3 plays completely fine, very cool game when u can run it in ps3.0 ;)  I just personally couldn\'t justify spending twice the amount when all the benchmarks i\'ve seen have a 10fps difference between 6800GTs and 6600GTs.

Ok, the 6800GT gives me a solid average framerate of 30 to 40 ( 45 ? ) fps in CT at 1024 x 768 all sm3.0 options enabled, no AA becuz of the HDR of course, AFx4 and shadow rez at medium.
To hardcore first person shooter players that might seem low, but in CT it feels very smooth.
Lowest dip noted was 23, highest peak 100. It seems capped at that somehow.

In the Bathhouse level with all that steam the average fps seems to take quite a hit though, but since the steam section is only small and just optional it\'s not a big deal.

Your 6600GT should benefit quite some fps from sm3.0 if you don\'t enable HDR Tonemapping.

I\'m getting around 30 to 40 too on teh same settings. The card seems to get hit alot more when i enable anything over 4xAA. Probably because of the bus bitrate. I personally disable HDR. I find it makes the contrast on objects look screwy.
