USB PC to PC network
« on: April 25, 2005, 06:58:40 AM »
I was wondering if anyone knew if you could network 2 computers using a USB cable.  I dont have a hub or switch to work with, but I do have a USB cable that has the same plug on both ends.

Ideas???

You don\'t need a switch or hub to link 2 pcs.

If both pcs had Lan ports or Nics. Just get a cross-over cable and connect the 2 together.

I was going to do that, but I only have one LAN port on both computers and I need one to be connected to the already existing network.

on top of that, I dont have any ends for CAT5 connetors so I cant even make a cable.  Thats why I was trying to find an alternate solution.

USB networking is a world of hurt you don\'t want to get into

go down to the local PC shop/compusa/bestbuy and get a x-over cable

thats why I said no biggie.. If this was a home project, I wouldn\'t even say a word, but to have to go thru all the garbage, just because I can\'t use the unplugged switch sitting in the netorking room, Im a little agrovated with the whole situation.  What would take 2 minutes,  has turned into this retarded, long drawn out wild goose chace.
