dell just had 750$ off 1500$ coupons last week
could have got a pimped out 9300 inspiron for same price with 3 year warranty

No, I\'m not plannning on play any games, but what would a 5400RPM HD have to do with it?  I also have a spare 512MB stick so I can instantly upgrade to 1GB.

the difference between a 5400rpm HD and a 7200rpm HS is immense.  

hope that spare is sodimm, it wont take any old ddr stick

I don\'t understand why HP choose 5400 RPM HDD for their made computer?  Only bottom of the line or old HDD are still 5400.  As if HP try to sell CPU and motherboard at a reasonable price but put an inferior HDD to make some profit.

Nowadays, one can buy 120 Gbytes HDD with 8 MB buffer, Ultra ATA 133 and 7200 RPM speed for $60 or less.  I bought Maxtor with that spec and price last December.  So, it should be cheaper now and the one HP listed is only 80 GB...

well, this is a notebook, 4200rpm are the lowest and 120GB notebook HD\'s are expensive

an 80GB 7200rpm runs about 100$

sadly, they only offered 4200RPM and 5400RPM HDs.
