Now compare that to the Gameboy Advanced.

Two different type of handhelds for two different audiences, adult or kids.  The DS will appeal to those who like the touch screen aspect, and the new Gameboy will appeal to those who want more traditional games on the go.  There\'s obviously a market for the type of games the DS offers since the touch games are doing so well.

Why is this so difficult?

it\'s not difficult, it\'s just that if the ds is doing so well why make another handheld? i mean does the ds make only touch in go games? i don\'t think so...they can also make these traditional games on the ds...

Because it was meant to create a new market, kind of like how the Virtual Boy was not meant to replace the Gameboy.

The touch gaming is its purpose.  The fact that it can play both traditional Gameboy games and touch screen games just broadens its appeal.

The next Gameboy will be a different product, and I\'m guessing it will share some similarities with the PSP in media functions.  It will be as powerful, if not more, than the PSP.  Plus, as Eik said, it will play with the Revolution some how.

You people should know by now that handheld gaming is growing in popularity, and what\'s wrong with trying to captitalize on that with two different products?

ok i got it now at least from a marketing standpoint...milk the cow till it\'s dry blah blah blah...and this new gameboy will interact somehow with the new nintendo console...it\'s almost like having the ps2 and that psx thingy over in japan that totally bombed...why have two products that do almost basically the same thing? now before we go back and forth on this i understand fully what you are sayin\'

like i stated before i could care less about the handheld genre, from a general standpoint i don\'t see why the ds couldn\'t have had the features you stated that are bound for the new gameboy. but then that would go back to the milkin\' the cow theory....

i mean it\'s not that serious i just don\'t think someone at nintendo was like "the ds is doing extremely well... now let\'s make the new gameboy with features we could\'ve made with the ds" but hey if the consumers buy it, it will be a win win situation...

I suppose it is in a sense. I think it would be more accurate to say it\'s tapping into a new market, because if it wasn\'t, at least from Nintendo\'s point of view, they would be eating into their own sales of the Gameboy. (Which may or may not happen depending on how effectively they can differentiate the two through marketing)

The PSX didn\'t do anything for gaming though, it was a Playstation with some non-gaming related features.  The DS is all about gaming, and in a distinct direction than that of the Gameboy.

The DS is catering to a different audience, and it\'s quite obvious Nintendo made a good call this time around as opposed to their attempt with the Virtual Boy.

To avoid any further confusion I\'d suggest you wait to see what Nintendo has in store for the next Gameboy.  They\'ll be able to tell you more about it than I can.

Difference being....

How many of this was MUST BUY? Most was just revised models .
There was the Gameboy / Gameboy Color / Gameboy Advance. Anything else was revisions to the hardware, correct? Thus, you didn\'t really have to buy an SP  or a THIN model.

Just think of them as revised hardware, like a PSone or PSTwo.

GameBoy SP is so leet still. :p Best handheld so far.
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

With the DS you should expect more games like Kirby: Cursed Canvas, Yoshi\'s Touch \'n Go, Warioware, etc.

With the new gameboy you\'ll see games like what the Gamecube is offering, both in gameplay and graphics.  At least that\'s the rumor.  As Eik said, it\'s supposed to complement the Revolution in some way and I\'ve read it will extend the life of the GC as well...we\'ll see.

So basically it will offer better graphics than DS but with less gameplay oportunities(thanks to the dual screen and touch screen) than the DS?because I cant think of any thing better the "next" gameboy can offer in terms of gameplay the DS cant

No one knows anything about the successor to the GameBoy except that it\'s being worked on.

We don\'t know how many screens it will have, how many buttons, how powerful, what games, time frame, compatibility, connectivity, plans, business model, pricepoint, software, physical design, or anything.

We just know that Nintendo is always doing work in some respect on its next generation. That goes for home consoles and handhelds.

DS is the wifi player right now as will be GameCube most likely. So it\'ll be easiest to link them, but that\'s just speculation at this point.

And that\'s it.

As for the difference in GBA and DS, clips, the DS games are more quirky. If you want something different (not neccesarily better) you buy the DS and try it out.

It has nothing to do with being a kid or an adult unless you\'re that affected by marketing campaigns that you think everything by Nintendo is for toddlers. Then it\'d just be for kids.

eh...
