I\'m going. Poor Paris....they needed this more than London as 85% of them polled wanted the Olympics compared to London\'s 65%. With their unemployment rate twice that of the US (and only half of the US population, I think), they really needed the financial boom.

Get yer spotted dicks prepped, mates...I\'m going to England in Oh 12!

Meh, I\'m not that fussed about it actually. If the people of London are looking forward to it as much as I did about manchester bidding, I can\'t see it being that big a deal to be honest.

When the bids were put in for manchester the 2 times they lost, not that many people in the area actually supported it, so when the defeat came, we weren\'t that bothered.

The only people who cared, were the ones who put the bid together, and the people in the media.

If you asked the average manchester resident, they would have probably said they couldn\'t have give a shit.

Winning the bid, and then running the olympics isn\'t all wine and roses, it can cause serious problems long term, long after the events themselves have finished. A lot of hosts in the past fell into serious debt because of it, serious debt they had trouble making up.

So, if the average londoner is similar to the average manc, I can see them being of the "who cares?" brigade, especially with all the havoc and disruption it would cause.

Yeah, personally I thought Paris shoulda had it, and was going to get it.  There were just so many reasons the olympics seemed to fit there this time around.  Guess their plan just wasn\'t as good as London\'s though, somehow.

Paris held all those World Cup matches so I thought they had all the stadiums they needed. Plus...they weather is better in Paris compared to London. :)

If it was in Paris they would have booed everything the Americans did.  In other words, it would make great TV. :)

Well, just this one. Never been to one myself but I know someone who has (Atlanta Games). She\'s supposed to let me know how to get tickets.  China has 2008, right? Ain\'t going there. But London tickets won\'t be ready for at least another 16 months, I heard.

My French friend says thank God Olympics wont happen in Paris.She also sais poor London.Can you guess why? ;)
