So is Jamie Foxx...

Are you gonna post half naked pics of him, too?
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

I certainly wouldn\'t mind. :D

But this is his thread, so if he only wants to discuss the movie I guess we\'d better respect that.

I was reading some reviews and it certainly sounds like it\'s better than I thought it would be. The trailer does nothing to point this out though...

Since when did we start respecting people\'s threads? ;)

I agree ! Hollywood screws up every concept. Stealth bombers are NOT fighter jets. Yet, the trailer depicts these stealth planes as supersonic fighterjets which engage dogfights with Migs

A real stealth bomber, F117 or B2, is scrap metal when it has to face a Mig 29.

It seems like they just redid the WW1 style dogfight scenes again and having fictional stealth bombers do Spitfire aerial tricks.

Real stealth bombers fly long distances, subsonic high altitudes by night to not get spotted. When they reach the target, they drop a bomb, then go back to base.

When they DO get spotted and facing a supersonic fighterjet, it really doesn\'t look too good for the stealthbomber\'s pilots.

Stupid popcorn movies.

The thing is, these AREN\'T real stealth bombers.  They\'re made-up futuristic stealths, meaning they are whatever the heck the writers want them to be.

And yes it is a popcorn movie, but that\'s what it\'s supposed to be.

;) Heheh, yeah i\'m very aware it\'s just for popcorn movie purposes.

But it nullifies the whole meaning of the name of the movie, \'Stealth\'.

The stealth technology it\'s sole purpose is to stay undetected and especially to NOT get into whatever contact with enemy fighter jets & radar.

It\'s an expensive zero compromises technology ;

- no afterburners ( in that trailer i clearly see heavy afterburner usage saying HELLO to thermal detectors)

- engines buried deep into the body
with muffled air intakes and special cooled exhaust.

- fly by wire computer systems which constantly monitor & adjust flight becuz the stealth aerodynamics are as good as a brick.

Stealth bombers are basically the \'crippled and astmatic\' amongst airplanes.

Somehow I had hoped it would be an intelligent stealth airplane movie.

You know your stuff Knotter.  Many film critics have asked Why aren\'t there more jet fighter movies???  The only two I can think of are Top Gun and the first 30min of Behind Enemy Lines (Pearl Harbor ....maybe).

I guess these are just movies that are too big in scope to do so they pass on these scripts in favor of Michael Bay\'s "The Explosion: After the Detonation."  It would be nice to get something real, to the level of Top Gun anyway, nowadays.

As an aside, after Top Gun was released the Air Force saw a surge of new recruits.

Well, I have always been a bit interested in all things \'military vehicles\', tanks being the main one.

I inherited a stack of really nice Reader\'s Digest Aircraft books from my grandpa, which fairly go indepth, tech-wise.

When I first heard of this Stealth movie I had hoped it would be alike, and be better than, "Flight of the Intruder" (1991) which was a nice movie about bomberplanes which\'d best stay undetected.

Flight of the Intruder info

So, I had hoped for a well drawn out technological, psychological thriller. Not a dogfight action popcorn flick, which became evident as soon as i saw the trailer.

Basically, B2\'s fly nightly, long distance, long hours. The pilots make long hours and they rarely see daylight. These guys are trained for those long shifts and pinpoint intelligence precision. That probably puts quite a strain on them both mentally and physically

So, the stealth bomber premise is very interesting and has alot of potential. Too bad Hollywood needs to rape the essence of stealth into dogfight action once more :(

Uhm.... Hello. That prototype F22 (forgot the name)and the X35. I believe they both use stealth technology. They arent steath bombers however. I dont know the complete premise of the movie but 1) its hollywood and 2) its supposed to be some new futuristic like jet anyway.

Im into jets and things too but dont get your panties in a twist.

They must be planning to run this film "Stealth" at Grauman\'s Chinese theater in Hollywood.  I happened to be passing by Hollywood Blvd today, and I noticed they were assembling a full scale mockup of the so-called stealth aircraft from the movie in the middle of the parking lot next to the theater.  Unfortunately I didn\'t have a camera with me, but it\'s ok because they plane wasn\'t finished yet anyway.  they were lowering a wing into place with a crane when I walked away.  It could have been a mockup used in the actual production, because it looked very realistic.
