Joytech 8" LCD monitor for the PStwo slimline console (PAL) 149 Euros.
I bought this LCD monitor which can be mounted onto the PStwo console ; since I\'m relocating for 2 to 4 months becuz of my internship at Streamline Studios.
Got the keys for the renthouse (which I share with 2 other Streamline employees) friday so I will be moving in tuesday.
However, I am reluctant to move over my 27" Sony WEGA tv to play PS2 games on. Anything could happen to it within the 4 months temporary housing ; hence I bought this handy 8" PStwo lcd monitor. I chose this over the newly launched Euro PSP becuz I\'ll be able to play my fav PS2 games in the new house with true PS2 graphics with the actual Dualshock 2 controller.
It mounts onto the back of the PStwo by means of the 2 screwsockets and it lines up nicely with the PStwo\'s dimensions.
It gets power directly from the PStwo. The monitor also ships with a car adapter, a remote control and a storage bag. There are menu buttons on the casing of the screen, but it\'s much more convenient to use the remote control ; you can adjust screen display settings as well as DVD play functions which is great imo.
The monitor supports :
Game/DVD setting - default for games and dvd use (no progressive scan)
RGB - the better game IQ
YCbCr - both games and dvd\'s will be displayed in component colors
SRS sound
2 mini jack out for headphones
Ok, so now onto the image quality :
RGB provides the best IQ, \'Game/DVD\' is a bit tame and component is .....well.... heh,as component is known. So I play using the RGB setting sitting about 3 to 4 feet away from the screen for best result. The weak points of the screen are display of text and display of black which isn\'t really black.
This is most likely result of the high brightness the screen has. Other than those issues the screen displays games and dvd\'s pretty crispy
Sound :
I use my Sennheiser HD570 headphones with this monitor. The mini-jack output suffers some static and and I\'m not a fan of the SRS sound ; it deforms too much. The stereo sound is ok.
Controls : the remote control is great. It\'s flat and handy, a bit like 4 credit cards stacked together but a bit more narrow and longer. It serves as a DVD play control as well.
the verdict :
Image Quality a 7 out of 10
Sound Quality a 6.5 out of 10
Control friendlyness a 8 out of 10
Tilt a 8 out of 10
Overall score a 7.5 out of 10
