These contoller add-ons will just be the light guns and steering wheels for the Revolution. They are not required to play the games, so I don\'t see what your beef with them is. Besides, they offer a great financial advantage for Rev users; because these attachable guns and wheels are not separate, self-contained controllers, they will be much cheaper than their counterparts for other consoles.

The steering wheel concept is cool looking but pointless. Because it just uses the motion sensor, the wheel part does nothing. You could tape it to a Frisbee and have the same steering wheel effect...

They are neat ideas, though.

The steering wheel possibility is certainly useful.

1: The idea of addons reaks of a cheap way to get profit.

2:If the whole idea is you can buy addons for a game, i.e a shell controller for Mario or a steering wheel for racing, then there is nothing really that amazing about the core controller./

Now when I get pissed off and throw the controller cool things will happen on the screen.
Wrong. There are two other people who can.

if these addons cost as much as a few bucks who cares? They might even be sold with the game.

Not to mention that most games will require as much as the add on that makes the Revolution controller like the traditional controllers(or not at all)

A few bucks? Who cares? That is the problem with you typical consumers. They give you shit, charge you a few bucks and you go "who cares?".

And if the games require an "add-on", then that does away with this big revolution, now doesn\'t it? It just makes the controller a central hub for crap-ass add-ons, that will clog up your closet ala Steel Battlion or the Super Scope.

Typical consumer?Yeah probably typical consumers like me are the problem unlike some others that will pay more for a stand alone light gun, a steering wheel or who knows what else they will use for only a game or two and then put them in a closet taking more space than these smaller pieces of plastic.

Oh lets not forget:

The tons of unneded functionalities some people are complaining about because they dont have to do much with improving gaming(XBOX360, and probably PS3).

Also typical consumers that wont be paying more fore graphics instead for different gameplay experience are the problem.

Revolution is supposed to be cheaper.Stupid typical consumers will pay less.

And like how many games will need add ons?Oh you dont know yet.

You\'re a damn idiot who talks in circles.

I\'m sorry if this is rocket science to you, let me break it down.

1: The base controller is not really functional for most games. Nintendo knows this - so what do they do? They add NGC ports to it and they also allow add-on controllers to hook up to it. What is the point of making a controller that is not functional all around? There isn\'t! It\'s a cheap way to get more money out of the consumer....Hey - want to play a racing game and enjoy it? Buy our stupid steering wheel add-on, that does nothing but make it abit more comfortable for playing style (due to the fact that the core controller is the motion sensor!).

Let\'s not mention that this controller will  KILL third party development. Need proof? Ever since the N64 design, Nintendo has had problems with third party games using the controllers to their fullest extent. It happened with the N64 and it\'s \'C\' buttons, the NGC it was due to lack of buttons and now this..Well, this presents so many problems for the third party developers that it is sad.

LIC, I don\'t think Nintendo is really too fussed about old things not working on this new stick. They want people to make new games specifically for the new controller, but it seems like you think that this new controller can\'t handle games of the same type. You can\'t make a direct port of old games because the input mechanism is fundamentally different, but it doesn\'t mean you can\'t make new games of the same type.

EXAMPLEES:
fighitng - I gave an example of how this could be done in previous posts
driving - twist for steering, tilt for throttle
fps - people are having orgasms because this new system is 300 times better than dual analog sticks.

And don\'t foget to think about new gneres this new controller would be able to spawn. If you ignore stupid things like cooking or fly swatting games, you end up with the kewl things like SWORD FIGHTING GAMES. Like I\'ve said numerous times before, I so can\'t wait for the first jedi game to come out for this.

Really, it\'s purdy stupid to assume this is just a gimmic so they can sell more controllers. That option is there for GC backward compatibility. Nintendo is going to discourage developers of new games from using the old way of playing.

I disagree 200 percent. This, if anything limits the genres. How are you goin\' to do a fireball? What about sports games? How do I make a tackle? The controller will limit almost any third party developer and the only games worth noting will be a first party game, like always when it comes to Nintendo\'s systems.

ah, maybe you\'re getting closed minded in your old age.

fireball: half u motion in the air plus a, speed or maybe the size of your half u motion determines which punch level it is.

tackle: FUCKING GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY REAL FOOTBALL AND STOP PLAYING SPORTS VIDEO GAMES THATS HOW! but if you don\'t like that option, you can guide your player to his target to get him in position and when he\'s primed, you do a sudden flick motion towards the target.

Really, you can do just about anything with the new controller. You just have to stop thinking about buttons. That\'s why it doesn\'t have buttons!

And that won\'t be clumsy at all, right? Oh come on, give me a break. You mean to tell me that this controller will allow me to do perfect chain combo\'s and throw in a super move in the end? Yeah right!

it only says it\'s for backwards compatibility, which is exactly what I said. he didn\'t say it was another option so 3rd party developers can ignore the new controller. in fact, nintendo is going to discourage that very strongly.

Fact is, they are adding backwards compatibility and then knowing that the controller won\'t be worth shit, saying hey, what not buy our classic-styled expansion...

Hey, just try it. Unless you\'ve got some degenerative disease that eats away at your muscles or nerve endings, doing these things in the air is a sinch. You might have an aversion to looking retarded, so you might hesitate, but just shut your blinds and lock your door. ^_^

Really, I\'m doing it now. Easy!
