Help Writing Lead-Out

Whenever my DVD burner finish burning dual layer discs, it have trouble writing lead out.  It will write 100% complete, then when it start to finalize, closed, or write lead out.  The Burner started to makes clipping noises, and it only finish about 2-3% of writing lead out and it say its finished.

But when I tried to play the disc in the dvd burner itself, the burner didn\'t recognize it.  My DVD players play some of those DVD+R DL discs, but it takes them longer to recognize the disc, and one dvd player have hiccup reading layer 2 but will read fine.  While my other dvd player will just froze when reading layer 2.

I also noticed on the disc info on my DVD-R discs that I burnt, it said that it was recorded by Sony DW-D18A.  But my DVD Burner is a Lite-On.  This is confusing.  And some of the DVD-R discs that I burnt for the first time when I bought this burner last year, it have this information saying that was recorded with Sanyo AT CRD-BPDV3...

But they were all burnt by my one and only DVD Burner, Lite-On...

so, what\'s going on?

What software are you using to burn?  What is the exact model you are using (some of the current Lite-On drives have problems, a quick google revealed).  What media are you using (TDK has had some issues too) - try switching media.

If Nero, try installing the DLL from here into the nero directory.

Try another burning program, too, no matter what you are currently using.

I used DVD Decrypter and ImgBurn to burn dual layers.  Before I tried DVDShrink, DVDCloner, and all have had problems burning dual layers.

My DVD Burner model is SOHW-832S.  VSOJ for firmware.

So far, I used one and only Verbatim  DVD+R DL media.

I burnt single layer discs fine and it have no problems writing lead-out.  Its just dual layers that have problems with writing lead out, aka closing the disc...

This guy is having the EXACT same problem.

Uncanny, right down to the media and it being reported as a Sony.  I would try a different media, as other have successfully burned disks with that drive.  Then try that drive in another computer, and finally return the drive to the store and get another.

Wow.  As funny as this may sound, that guy is me actually.  I registered there recently because I been having problems with burning dual layers.

So, anybody here got any ideas?

I would ask in CD Freaks forum, they\'re generally the best resource for CD/DVD issues (For your convenience, look in the forum linked).  But try another media first, and if that fails, switch the drive wherever you got it.

Have to assume you are putting the discs in the freezer first.

Boil them in water.
That does help.

the microwave trick always worked for me
