I gotta feeling AMD is gonna start getting it\'s ass kicked until they can crank out the 65nm parts towards the end of the year.

Glad to see them adopting DDR2, even if it dosen\'t give much performance benefit, it\'s going to be the mainstream memory in the coming months, years... if not already

I got a opteron dual core before the price spike and I love it to death, i\'ll probably stay pat for at least another year, maybe more.

I want a new PC, but I\'m waiting for at least the end of the year (AM2, Merom, Vista, WGF 2.0, G80, R600, DDR2, quad cores etc.).

Ha! :p

Me waits for second year of MacIntel so\'s they get the bugs out of the first year batch. Also, not all of the usual Mac apps are yet out for the MacIntels.

Apple\'s decision to adopt Intel over AMD had nothing to do with which one was better in terms of performance. AMD does not have a large enough Fab production to supply the demand Apple requires, likewise Intel currently is the biggest fab producer in the world, they control 80% of the semiconductor market. Intel has Fab production facilities coming out of there ass. For apple there decision was primarly based on a business standpoint.

On a side note, this whole big commotion over the last year about DELL planning to buy AMD chips is yet another prime example, of wishful thinking. How is AMD going to fulfill Dell\'s inventory demand?

it\'s all about who could deliver a product that was decent enough performing at the best price.  Intel wins hands down.

I believe AMD is building or just opened a new fab, but they are sorely lacking in production capacity compared to intel.

Some benchmarks for Intel\'s Conroe chip due to ship this fall.  Keep in mind intel setup both their box and the AMD box, but it\'s looking like a kick-ass processor.
