Night Watch: Nochnoi Dozor
« on: March 08, 2006, 10:24:50 AM »

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0403358/

I just saw this film last weekend during it\'s limited US release.  Now all of you horror freaks and Europeans who have already seen it can complain "Oh that is so 2 years ago!!!!"  Apparently it was first released in 2004.

For those who don\'t know, this is a Russian vampire film with a very different style than most hollywood horror pictures.  I thought it was entertaining and had a huge number of good ideas, but it fell short of it\'s potentional.  This is one of those films where I couldn\'t help feeling that it needed just a little more work to push it over the top.  if a skilled writer had done one or two more drafts, the script could have been refined to near perfection, and the film would have been enormously better.

If anyone has seen it, post here and I\'ll explain exactly what I thought were the problems with the script.  In spite of the problems, it\'s still a fascinating film and well worth seeing.

Sucked terribly. They have overdone it with meaningless crap just as an excuse to add as many effects as possible.
The camera also messed up with my head.So many useless scene alterations/changes per second.I mean if I were an epileptic, I would have foamed, my nose would have blet and my head would have been bumping at the back of my seat.

Generally I give it a 5/10.Just because for a russian production of this scale is a good effort.Otherwise I would have given it lower.

Indeed it had so much potential but the execution ruined everything

yea saw it quite some time ago..  Didn\'t think it was too bad. Some cool effects, but yea, it wasn\'t the greatest either.
