Yeah! We\'re all talking about this (me and a bunch of autocross enthusiasts). My Impreza is about to get an STi engine/tranny/exhaust etc swap. My \'99 Impreza is gonna surprise a lot of people.

Do you mean the current gen US market 2.5 liter 300 HP STI drivetrain?  Does that actually fit in your little Impreza?  Damn.  I hope you\'re getting a good deal on it.  Those engines are probably expensive.

Yes. The engine hasn\'t really gone through any external upgrades since 1997. Everything fits from one model to another, Legacy, Impreza, Outback and even the Tribeca. All the engines are the same. They eve managed to fit an SVX engine into a 99 Impreza.

My 99 model is 300 pounds lighter than the current gen WRX so I will definitely fly!
