PS3 to make PCs obsolete...

Besides defending the PS3, Harrison took time to evangelize the device, which will launch worldwide this November. In particular he said the Linux-based operating system on the console\'s hard drive will have enough processing power and non-gaming functionalities to render traditional PCs--most of which use a form of Microsoft\'s Windows OS--moot in the home. "We believe that the PS3 will be the place where our users play games, watch films, browse the Web, and use other [home] computer functions," said Harrison. "The PlayStation 3 is a computer. We do not need the PC."

Perhaps they\'d prefer not to name drop the competition. If I\'m Nintendo, I don\'t want the word "PlayStation" anywhere in my press release, etc.

I could see myself messing around with it as a computer from time to time. Don\'t see myself replacing my laptop with it. Eh, we\'ll see how it runs and maybe I\'ll use it as a supplement to my laptop. I just have a lot of media and stuff on my laptop I never want to get rid of it

whelp wasn\'t the ps2 called a computer entertainment system?....i won\'t go as far as to say that this thing will replace the pc *it won\'t*..but you gotta understand that this has been sony\'s thing all along,...to have the all in one media center,...anybody with half a brain knows that the ps3 is not gonna replace the pc....
