here\'s some progress pics.... long week. Kyoko\'s grandma died on thursday, so one of my 2 days off was taken up by family affairs. long story short, my brother sanded my hardwood floors all day on saturday by himself. wotta guy.


House is a 1936 bungalow by Grover Cleveland golf course. owners painted everything flat white, And had white carpets. blech.....I will have this place looking like a 1900\'s mission / arts&crafts/craftsman bungalow in a week.

yow, that place looks grrrrreat!  Wish I had that handyman talent.  Love the stone walkway and lil guardrail too, really adds to the look & atmosphere.

Good job, and post some progress if ya can ;)

ps- did ur grandma leave u that or is that the place u bought?

Thanks! This is the house I bought. It\'s not very big, but it\'s enough for now. After living in apartments for 15 years, this is luxury. Just having a place to grill is heaven.

we sanded & stained the floors this weekend, which sucked big time. Now 3 coats of poly, and we\'re good to go.

Next comes painting the trim, installing crown moulding, shoe moulding, and building a new mantle for the fireplace.

Me and mine are starting to consider a house, but where we live is the richest burbs in chicago. Even a small condo goes for like 350 here.

Problem is, if anything we have to move CLOSER to the city, and it just keeps getting more expensive.

that\'s what you get for living in a real city, luke...;)

this place was $86,500. I could shoot a pelet gun and hit the Uni of Buffalo, the golf course, and university heights bar district. My neighborhood are mostly Indian and Asians...real mellow. The parking lot around the corner has a nightly cricket game. Plus there\'s a really nice gay dude 2 houses down who really takes care of his place. sorta keeps pressure on the neighbors.
