New top selling game of all time?

Hard to say based on this release, but the numbers are up there.

All around the world, people love training their brains.
Nintendo announced today that Brain Age: Train Your Brain In Minutes A Day! has set a new world record for video game sales, topping four million copies sold worldwide. Most of the title\'s sales were in Japan, where it has sold over three million copies since its initial release fifteen months ago, but Brain Age is also showing signs of strength in America and Europe, where it has passed five hundred thousand copies sold in each market. Part of Brain Age\'s success may be due to its simplicity, which allows for even those who\'ve never played a video game before to easily pick up and play it. The title is still performing well in all three major markets, and was the second-highest seller in the US during the last week of July, behind only New Super Mario Bros.

At roughly $20 a pop, that\'s about $80 million in sales from a budget DS game.

That\'s mind numbing.

Don\'t argue. My mind is numb from this.

super mario bros for NES was like 40 million copies sold
unsure if any other title is higher.

unless we\'re talking modern consoles, then gran turismo 3 has that title at 14 million

Good. Brain Age doesn\'t deserve that title. :)

Still, quadruple platinum for a cheapo game is awesome for Nintendo.

I\'ve never even heard of that game before. It probably sold a lot because parents would buy it for their kids so they would feel that video games are making them smarter and that them playing them were worthwile.

In Japan, parents bought it for themselves.

You\'re thinking of the right game.

I liked it, personally. That makes me .00002% of the game\'s total sales.

Well, it\'s only logical that people who used to buy puzzle (cross-word) books now pick this up as a better alternative. New consumer audience.

Super Mario Bros 3, at 18 million units sold worldwide, is still the no.1 selling console game ever.

Excluding pack-ins like Super Mario Bros.

Brain Age simply might be among the fastest selling ever, in Japan anyway.

While it is often quoted as being the highest selling video game not bundled with a console, it in fact was bundled with "The Challenge Set" release of the NES.

assuming you used the same source
