Riku: For those of us that don\'t have an Xbox 360, $249 (with game) is plenty affordable.

What bothers me right now isn\'t so much the cost of the console: it\'s the controller. $40 for the Wii-mote, plus $20 for the nunchuku!

The Virtual Console titles are priced well, IMO. Consider that Nintendo used to charge $20+ for their NES Classics series on GBA. Now those titles will be $5 on Wii\'s VC. SM64 got ported to DS for what, $30-35? Now it\'s available (minus the DS goodies, of course) for $10.

Yeah the price of the controllers bothers me on Xbox 360 and even more on Wii.

But I guess that\'s life. I\'ll buy three extra remotes and one nunchuck to start. Toss in a classic controller for fun.

I don\'t have a 360, but after seeing what the cost is of the Wii I might as well buy one [a 360].  In other words, I don\'t think the Wii is worth that price.  I also don\'t think the games are worth $50 considering, as of the moment, they look little better than Xbox games.  No, I\'ll get my Nintendo fix with Twilight Princess on the GC, and I\'ll probably end up getting a DS this year as well.

Have fun with it.  I\'ll be joining you eventually- when there\'s a price drop and some Player\'s Choice games available.

All I care about is Resident Evil 5 and Shenmue 3?

Who\'s getting those?
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Homos.

Homos tend to buy those games.
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

has anyone noticed that full controllers cost $60 each?

Other than that, everything is gravy.

Yeah, Hurricane I agree.

Only saving grace is that to exploit Wii Tennis, I only need to buy three remotes. And I\'ll get one of the nunchuck attachments just in case, for another game. So it\'s still a bunch of money, but there\'s room to save a little.

Controllers for X360 are a rip, too. I don\'t like how prices have gone up. $35 was the sweet spot for me. After that I get pissy about the whole thing, heh.

Yeah and an assload of controllers. I\'m going to spend between $700 and $900.

Considering I\'ll have four controllers and seven games, I\'m all right with that.

I want to play tennis today. I hope I can pre-order, I want to give that a shot today.

Other than the main dissapointments already being talked about ad nauseum over the net (controller, initial price, graphics, blah blah), the thing that pisses me off the most is the lack of online play.  WiiSports looks like it could be a lot of fun, but only locally?  Why isn\'t this baby online?  It\'s basically nothing but a multiplayer game right down to its core, but it\'s not online enabled?  That\'s pretty stupid...

Eik: Online-wise? I agree.

Sales-wise? I\'d say that it\'s possible but improbable, given the year headstart.

Then again, the Genesis had a 2-year headstart and the SNES eventually outsold it overall.

Yeah I don\'t mean in sales, especially globally. Just in the quality of its online program. I can\'t begin to guess how Wii will perform sales wise. Although a $199 price point would have made it easier to predict success.
