Dead Rising is officially the fastest selling title in the UK for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft according to Chart Track figures and debuts in the All Formats chart this week (w/e 9th September 2006) at number 1 beating off stiff competition from Test Drive Unlimited and Saints Row.

“We’re thrilled that Dead Rising has done the business,” commented Claire Mercer UK and Export, Sales and Marketing Director, “Consumer anticipation has been astronomical along with excellent support from retail and press; the advertising campaign was also one of our most impactful yet”

“We’re so pleased that Japanese developers like Capcom are creating such quality games for the 360,” commented Microsoft’s UK regional Director, Neil Thompson, “And with 360 games taking the top 3 spots in the all formats chart this week it shows the growing strength of the platform in the UK and augers very well for the future.”

Capcom has risen from the dead after 5 years without an All Formats No1 thanks to the record breaking launch of Xbox 360 ‘Dead Rising’ giving the Japanese publisher their first All Formats No1 since ‘Resident Evil Code: Veronica’ back in week 37, 2001.

The controversial zombie killing game succeeds where last week’s No1 ‘Saints Row’ had failed by edging past Ubisoft’s ‘Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter’ to become the fastest selling Xbox 360 title to date. THQ’s ‘Saints Row’ is bumped down to No2 (sales down 43%) while the early launch of ‘Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy’ gives Lucasarts No3. Lucasarts’ Jedi mind tricks stop Microsoft from celebrating 3 Xbox 360 exclusives at the top of the All Formats Chart as Atari start their engines at No4 with ‘Test Drive Unlimited’. ‘Gangs of London’ steals a march on the Top 40 with high profile advertising giving Sony this week’s highest climber, up from No23 to No11. Three weeks on and EA’s ‘Madden NFL 07’ breaks into the All Formats Top 20 for the first time at No15 (thanks to the release of the Xbox 360 version this week), while ‘Reservoir Dogs’ from Eidos moves in the opposite direction as the recall of the Xbox version accelerates its decline out of the Top 10, down from No9 to No22. The only other new release to make the All Formats Top 40 Chart is Ubisoft’s ‘Enchanted Arms’ at No27, highlighting a great week for Microsoft by becoming the third Top 40 Xbox 360 exclusive charting this week.
