hmm...y\'know for the most part i will defend afri. americans and minorities at every turn if it\'s justified, but this here is just a waste of time..slavery was a sore spot in american history, it happened and that\'s the end of it,....maybe somebody needs to tell this group that slavery is still practiced in some parts of africa today? i might lose some black points for sayin that but it\'s the truth....

reading the article it states that the monies received would go into rebuilding black neigborhoods, which i\'m all for, i just think that this will get thrown out, and there are other ways to help low-income afri american neighborhoods. but i did notice that bank of america is one of the accussed in this lawsuit and i wouldn\'t mind them throwin\' 500- 2000 in my bank account...:fro:...thoughts?

i drive through one of the worst parts of my city everyday going to work, and what do i see?
trash all over the place.  grass that hasn\'t been cut all summer.  houses that in so ill-repair, they can hardly be lived in.
childen that are barely clothed, running around in the god damned street.  14 year olds pregnant, carrying another infant.
not impying the average poor white neighborhood isn\'t much different, but you don\'t see them blaming thier problems on whitey.

^^^i gotta admit he speaks the truth......but if i had a choice to live around either poor white trash or poor black folk? my choice would be...drumroll..........................................neither! i\'ve already did the latter and even tho i did know alot of people in my general area, i still was subjected to my windows being smashed or having to witness cops pull that yellow tape across on the other side of the apt complex for the random murder or shooting. Now before this goes on a tirade against poor afri. americans let me just say that there were also people like myself who were working hard to get up outta that area. My next door neighbor moved from the projects and moved into a nice home near the maplewood/livingston area in jersey. So all people livin\' in those poor area\'s aren\'t just being lazy...

and to be fair about white folk complaining, on occassion the average poor white guy will come up to me and complain about the gov\'t bein unfair and such,...maybe this is not on the level that some afri americans do it, but the complaints are there nontheless...i just wanted to point that out, cause while i do want to continue this discussion, i don\'t want all afri americans to be judged unfairly on this topic....as it stands tho, this is one outrageous lawsuit....

JP Morgan Chase has acknowledged it owned 1,200 slaves in Louisiana and accepted 13,000 others as collateral before slavery was abolished in 1865.

Lawyers pushing for the compensation said Wednesday the current day "market value" of the company-owned slaves would be at least $850 million.

The company has since apologized for its role in slavery and funded a $5 million college scholarship program for black students from Louisiana. Company spokesman Tom Kelly declined to comment on the litigation.

I hate it when they come up with stuff like that.  A slaves wages were room and board, their value was almost nothing at the time.  It wasn\'t illegal at the time, nor considered immoral until later, and in other areas of law we don\'t retroactively hold people (especially desendants) responsible for breaking a changed law unless they continue to break it after the law is created.

Maybe all those former slave owners should sue for the cost of transport to the greatest nation in the world. If it weren\'t for them, all those africans would still be in Africa eating grubs and getting AIDS...and turning each other into slaves by capturing rival tribes.

Instead they get to live and eat for free and have cable TV and healthcare that I pay for. American "ghettos" are like club med compared to the majority of african countries.

Obviously I\'m not in favor of slavery, and that was a purely sarcastic rant...no offense to my proud black friends here intended....but I am a little pissed off at those folks right now.

Wanna know why I\'m pissed off? Right now there are still about 200,000 people without power due to a recent storm here. Tree & power companies are coming from as far as Georgia & alabama to help out with the cleanup. There was a story that when they went to a certain neighborhood on the east side here, their trucks were broken into and their GPS systems stolen and personal belongings robbed. They were there to turn your f*cking power back on, you assholes! In my neighborhood we made coffee & lunches for these guys. Also, the supermarket around the corner from me lost power, and was running on a generator. I bought what I could after walking there, and the place was full of black folks looting the place. They had even posted some poor sap at the door asking poeple not to steal things. The place had been without power for about 12 hours. There were also roving gangs of young, black youth breaking into stranded cars in my neighborhood. Nice....






But yeah, they do deserve reparations.
