they already losing money selling ps3 with blu ray drive & HDD, and if they include HDMI or component video cable they\'re going to loose a bit more money than just including composite video cable instead. Beside, the majority of people don\'t have HDTV yet and many have no idea the benefit of HDMI or component video cable is. Which mean, even if they have HDTV with HDMI inputs. But since they don\'t know anything about it, they probably going to use composite video cable instead of higher picture quality cable.
Like my sister for instance, her analog 32" TV have component video and s-video input, but when her ps2 a/v cable broke, she bought composite a/v cable for her kids again. I was thinking, for the similiar price, she could have bought the better s-video or component video cable. Oh well...its just that many consumers won\'t understand what these cables are for.
So, I think sony is being smart not to include higher video cables, and let consumers that want better picture quality to re-use either s-video or component video cable that they had for ps2. Or go buy one like HDMI cable for instance. You can get good quality HDMI cable for like $20. So, its not much...
