Strange and shocking news. According to IGN/Famitsu, both models of PS3, all HD capible, will only include composite cables. Both fucking models! xbox 360 atleast included component that could do both composite and composite. WTF SONY!!!

You can use your old component cables with the new PS3.

This doesn\'t help everyone I know, but at least they didn\'t give us a new multi-A/V connector.

they already losing money selling ps3 with blu ray drive & HDD, and if they include HDMI or component video cable they\'re going to loose a bit more money than just including composite video cable instead.  Beside, the majority of  people don\'t have HDTV yet and many have no idea the benefit of HDMI or component video cable is.  Which mean, even if they have HDTV with HDMI inputs.  But since they don\'t know anything about it, they probably going to use composite video cable instead of higher picture quality cable.

Like my sister for instance, her analog 32" TV have component video and s-video input, but when her ps2 a/v cable broke, she bought composite a/v cable for her kids again.  I was thinking, for the similiar price, she could have bought the better s-video or component video cable.  Oh well...its just that many consumers won\'t understand what these cables are for.

So, I think sony is being smart not to include higher video cables, and let consumers that want better picture quality to re-use either s-video or component video cable that they had for ps2.  Or go buy one like HDMI cable for instance.  You can get good quality HDMI cable for like $20.  So, its not much...

i payed $80 for my HDMI  cable can you point me in the direction of the $20 model

Whatever way they would have gone I still have to buy a different cable. I need to buy AV cables for the TV in my apartment anyway or an RFU adaptor seeing as my roommate took the AV ports that bastard. Do the old cables work on the PS3? I heard they did. If so that makes my job a hell of a lot easier seeing as I have every cable except S-Video and HDMI.

Honestly, I think as of right now, shopping online for a good quality 6 ft HDMI cable is a much better deal than going to electronic stores as these stores like Best Buy and Circuit City are overcharging it.  As if these cable makers are monopolizing the HDMI cables price tag.  If you want HDMI, you have to pay a premium price in their stores.  Otherwise, you won\'t get HDMI.

So, I think shopping online is a better deal.  Unless, you can find an electronic store that sell good quality 6 ft HDMI cable at an reasonable price.  Say around $20 - $30 is reasonable for me...
