yeah, les paul is the way to go....if you have the loot. And Vivi, your dad is wrong. They\'re expensive because they\'re handmade in the USA. They will last a lifetime. Fenders became popular cos they were cheaper (bolt-on neck)
SG\'s are pretty cool, but be sure to spend some time with one strapped on (heh)..they\'re neck-heavy, and that can be weird for some people (myself included)...if you let go of the neck, it will tilt down. I sort of felt like I was fighting those things. Les pauls are balls-ass heavy, but they sit so well when you put the strap at its longest. On the SG, the tone you want is there, and the neck-thru design make for long sustain. If you want heavy, throw a set of 11\'s on that beast, and play the neck pickup. (less twang) You could also have a humbucker put in your strat in the neck position, but that could cost you almost as much as an sg standard. My advice to everybody has always been: Jimi Hendrix that strat, son....
