I like bowl games. One of the things I really like about college football is bowl games. Unlike every other sport more then just 1 team can end their post-season with a win.
If you take the top 8 teams in for a playoff, what will the 9th place team say? Especially if they have a record equal to the 8th and 7th place teams, or in Boise State\'s case they are undefeated but have a weak schedule?
College football IS bowl games. Not playoffs. Always has been always will be. Of the 1 loss teams, Michigan had their chance, and now the second one lost team Florida is getting its chance.
If Ohio State beats Florida should Ohio State have to play 2 more teams to prove they are the best team in the Country? And if Florida beats Ohio State should they have to play 2 more teams to prove they are the best in the country?
If you bring in a 8 team playoff system every year would that be fair to two 12-0 teams at #1 and #2? Should Texas have to play 2 more teams last January to prove they are the best? No.
And what is so horribly wrong about split national championships? These are kids, not paid professional athletes. No need to run them through extra games during December exams just to please media
One thing I noticed is that alot of the people who want playoffs really dont care much about the tradition of college football. Former LSU coach Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, all these guys ready to cut and run to the NFL, yet they want to change the history and tradition of college football before they do.
I dont see why there is ANY controversy this year, Florida and Ohio State is playing for the title and whoever wins is clearly the best team in the country.
