The Return of 2k football...sort of...
« on: January 30, 2007, 10:41:42 PM »
i\'m kinda glad they haven\'t thrown in the towel yet...if they could pull off a very impressive generic football title with tons of edits, i think they can succeed....how amazing and embarrassing it would be if 2k sports made a generic football game better than madden?...well imo the 2k5 title was better than madden 02- 07....i hope they hang in there until this license garbage is up....

I haven\'t bought a Madden since 04\'

The entire series is trash on next-gen.  Just completely terrible.

I bought NFL 2k5 and have been playing that ever since.  I am thrilled at this news.  Hopefully this game will bring down Madden and make EA never again try for an exclusive license.

^^^finally somebody that feels the same way i do!...even with the next gen- graphics and gameplay, espn still looks and plays better than madden....i\'ve played madden 07 on ps2, and the presentation is still severly lacking. to this day i still play espn....i bought madden 07 to see if i could get back into it, but espn still looks and plays better.

EA does not even try with madden anymore. All they do is rehash the exact same game over and over. Never improve on anything. Madden 04 was the last good madden I played. 05,06,07 have all been trash.

*rumor* is that madden will have the espn presentation next year. But that was probably just a group of optimistic people saying stuff.

But in all honesty..the halftime show and stuff like that was great for a little bit, but after i got over it i ended up just skipping it every time.

^^^i see what you\'re sayin\', but for me all of those cosmetic touches to the game was huge for me...it just made the experience more like a tv presentation...not just the halftime show, but the sky-cam replay, interviews at the end of the game, stats of players during the game,...it just added another level of polish to the game, and it showed sega was really tryin to make the best game possible....

i know alot of people that just blaze through both games(madden & espn) not caring about replays or things like that, but you\'d think two years later that madden would\'\'ve made some type of effort to the presentation,... they haven\'t because they feel they do not have to put forth the added effort. i don\'t like madden, but both games play fairly well, and i guess it\'s just a matter of taste, i just think the player models in espn 2k look and move more realistic than maddens models.

You know what is sad though..... hasn\'t EA had the ESPN license for a few years now?  What do we see?  Nothing but real-life score updates.  While those are nice, where the hell is the presentation.

I enjoyed playing Madden 04.  05 and 06 were nothing new to me.  What\'s worse is the jump to next-gen seemed to take the franchise in a step back with 07.  With a full year of production and we still aren\'t able to edit players and all the modes are not included.  I won\'t even mention the god awful gameplay.  To be honest with you, I still prefer how NFL 2k5 looked and would almost go as far as saying it looks as good.

wow. I guess there\'s some Euphoria physics engine. People think 2k might use it

http://naturalmotion.com/files/sneakpreview.avi

If they do..that would get me to switch. I do prefer madden\'s gameplay (i bought 2k5 but eventually returned it when madden came out), but that would be awesome. The tackling in madden is the one thing i find horrible.

just wish i wasn\'t superficial about real players and teams.

Tiger Woods is the only EA game worth getting :). The espn news updates on it are pretty cool while you\'re waiting in the menus. Madden I played for a few weeks and then just quit playing it due to gameplay that has failed to improve in the past 2 years.

if 2k could fix their DB play, D-Line shedding blocks easy, and the weird running animations, i would buy 2k8 in a heartbeat.
