A very welcome feature on the PS3\'s online service. I like it despite that I am not very fond of similar PC programs.

This looks easy, direct in use, beautiful and it\'s not independent from PS3\'s games. The trophy room, ranking\'s, game videos etc add and broaden the PS3\'s gaming experience.

This is an expanded XMB, in a beautiful skin

Home is the best thing to have ever happen to Playstation.  Home could make PS3 the best console ever.  PS2 was just PS1 with better graphics and not much new.

PS3 and home is fullfilling Sony\'s dream of what they wanted Playstation to be.

Some facts about home that I like:

- available in October
- 64 players can fit in one public space
- Ability to stream video off your HDD to others
- Ability to stream music off your HDD to others
- Going into a game room and bowling/playing pool with other people seamlessly in real time.
- It\'s free (extras cost $.  They gotta pay for this somehow)
- The Apartment feature.  Nothing but a glorified 3-D chat room but cool nevertheless.

With this and Motorstorm and Blu-Ray, I\'m finally interested in PS3.  If only it\'d come down a couple hundred. :)

I wonder how much they pay clowd to be a walking Sony advertisement....

With that said, Home looks interesting.  Nothing I\'d really utilize but I can see the appeal.

HOME - MORE QUESTIONS/ANSWERS FROM SONY

Quote

This time, we put questions to Sony on presence, navigation, features and moderation within Home…

What’s the function of the lobby and what is the maximum number of users that can be in a lobby?

“The lobby is the central meeting place where you can meet new friends or arrange to meet old friends, before transferring to a private meeting place. The current maximum of concurrent users in a lobby is 64.”

So how do you make sure friends are present in the same space?

“You can invite them via your friends list or invite them to your personal Home space.”

How will we all go about finding people within the Home world?

“We will have search functions for finding people online and offline, and for finding lobbies.”

Will you create lobbies by countries/regions?

“Yes, although users can choose where they want to go.”

How many avatars can I have?

“The current plan is for each Network account to be able to build one avatar, although you can have as many accounts as you like, giving you endless avatar options. Home is the human face of PlayStation Network, and your avatar is how you represent yourself. However, it will be possible to change your appearance, through customising your character and adding accessories, so you’ll be able to constantly re-invent yourself should you so desire.”

And I’ll be able to customise my avatar?

“Avatars are fully customisable with different facial features, height, weight, sex, hair styles, clothing, accessories, etc.”

What about using game characters as my avatar? Or can I use photo data to personalise my avatar (such as using photo data as the skin for my avatar’s face)?

“Not initially - however, we will extend the variety and selection of characters over time, including game characters and pets. Photo data is not supported at this time - however, the face customisation is very detailed and allows an almost infinite variety of faces to be created.”

Can you enter a game like MotorStorm quickly through Home without having to travel to the specific MotorStorm lobby?

“Currently, users can find each other in Home, and then arrange to go off and play MotorStorm at the same time. Eventually, users will be able to meet in Home and seamlessly launch into a game of MotorStorm. Similarly, users will be able to exit to Home directly from the game.”

Dont forget about Little Big Planet, probably THE game of this generation. Its gonnna move hundreds of thousands of PS3\'s consoles, I think SONY is finally do something very, very wise, and its going to pay off in system sales.

Home definitely sounds awesome. Nintendo made some snide comment to a magazine "This is their Mii-too approach. We had a similar idea and rejected it." Definitely not something I\'d be bragging about.

What places and or things would you like to see in HOME ?

Me:

1) McDonalds

2) Tattoo Shop

3) Outdoor Parks

4) Gym and pool

5) night club

6) old and famous harcade games

7) GTA4 full of on-line features and modes

8) GT5 and huge garages full of ultra customized cars to buy, sell, exchange plus little shop of every kind of accessories :D plus downloadable tracks and editors for brand new tracks !

9) A new gen Tekken with special Home on-line features/modes to fight in 8-12-16 players in huge and interactive places

Can you imagine how many possibilities and new ideas can be implemented during PS3 life ?

I love the "tattoo" Idea. Would be fun to have some special tattos available when you complete games.
can\'t see why not!

Is this service free? If so I could see the appeal looks nice. I am not into gaming online. Had a bad experience and couldn\'t get back into it. But if thats your thing it would be cool

##RACER## is right,  don\'t forget about little big planet.  I see infinite potential in that game.  Yet the odd thing is the game itself is so simple.  For example the PC game \'Spores\' looks to have infinite potential as well but the game looks to be 100x as complex as LittleBigPlanet.  Yet Little Big Planet seems to have a similiar amount of potential.  Why didnt anyone think of the concept for Little Big Planet before?  Genius.

Call me a PS3 fanboy/walking advertisement all you want,  but this is great news for Playstation 3.  I did call Home a possible Xbox Live Killer but that was merely out of fusteration.  For the last 5 years all I heard was how Xbox Live was the god of online gaming and was one of the many reasons the 360 is better then the PS3.

Now are we going to hear people whine about how they have to pay for Xbox Live even though in time it won\'t have as many cool features as HOME?

Competition makes each console better.  Maybe this will make Microsoft rethink how much they charge for Xbox Live
