Online Shooters

So what are the popular internet multiplayer FPS these days?  I\'ve been playing a lot of Halo for PC.  I\'m interested in Unreal Tournament 2004 - do people still play that?  I don\'t need to be on the cutting edge of online shooters, just something fun, not toooo complicated, and doesn\'t necessarily require teamwork with other live players.

How about Quake?  Do the various versions of Quake all have seperate servers?  Anyone still playing it?  Any preference as to version?

There are still many fans with a love affliction for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault\'s (mohaa) multiplayer.  The game is very responsive as it uses the Quake 3 engine, and will run on just about any system.  The textures are old by today\'s standards but there are several texture mods to make it look somewhat like a modern shooter.  The levels are addictive and the characters you choose have their own voices and taunts to add some personality to the game.

Serious Sam II is pretty fun.  Great looking cartoony graphics with a wacky storyline and crazy weaponry.  It has a co-op mode where you can team up with other random people online to play through the game.

Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield & Athena Sword are insanely fun if you want something tactical.  There are death & co-op modes within that too.  RB6 Vegas is a bytch to run but I imagine it has co-op mode too.

STALKER just came out, I\'m not sure if it has MP tho.  FEAR multiplayer seems to be solid from what little I played.  And of course there\'s HL2 and CS: Source.

Those (specifically raven shield. dont waste your time with athena sword. Its a good ad-on but not enough people use it) and Battlefield 2

The newest quake is obviously the best but i dont think you would miss much getting the quake before that. Pretty sure both are cheap though.

I want to test stalker out but I\'m deathly afraid of addictive games like oblivion and games like that
