Help need input for audio/video software.

I plan to take edit all my current music video\'s. What I would like to do is remove the audio and insert the Mp3 audio extracted from the Record so as to give the videothe best sound quality possible. I don\'t know if this is possible because my files range from VOB\'s to avi to Mpeg. Will these video formats incorporate mp3 audio and maintain it\'s quality bit-rate?

Price of software is of no concern, the critera is to find a piece of software that is simplic and easy to use. After all, I am only removing and re-syncing in the new audio. Any suggestions?

I would personally use adobe premiere... messing around with audio in that program isn\'t hard at all.  But the program overall is primarily a video editing program.. but I always edit my audio in there as well.. it does the job.  Check out adobe\'s "Elements" version of this software.  I\'ve never used it, but I\'d imagine is has all the major features of the full versions.  Plus it\'s only $99 bucks vs. $850

It supports most every format too.

Probably can remove with goldwave. Or try virtual dub.  Add shit back in with as who ever else said it... premiere.

Use VirtualDubMod to mux several audio streams at the same time.  You can also choose not to recompress the video to retain quality. (Video > Direct Stream Copy)

VdubMod - handles multiple audio streams

Don\'t bother re-doing .vob files from a DVD, they should have CD+ sound.  I wouldn\'t bother re-encoding anything with lesser video quality, either...

Really, I guess I\'m saying I wouldn\'t bother with this, just start getting everything you can in .vob format from now on.  The time you spend on this, especially when you hit the videos which are like 4 seconds different from the audio for a pause or some such.. ugh.

The intention is to maintain/untouch the video quality, while addding in a new soundtrack.

Ok does anyone have a link for a tutorial for Virtual-Dub, maybe I should go over to doom9 and see if I can find anything there. I\'d prefer to use just one program that does it all, so maybe I should check out THE FULL VERSION(LOL) of adobe premier and see where that leads, if not I will then attempt to mess with Virtual dub.

Question:

when dealing with Avi\'s and mpegs how does the sound portion of the files work. What I am asking is that is it possible to add and mp3 track without having the mp3 file altered. Will the mp3 track stay in mp3 format when added to the file. Excuse my ignorance when it comes to the internals of avi and mpegs video formats, I have never edited then before.

There is no question hat the VOB files have much better sound quality then the lesser video formats since after all VOB are straight from the DVD. However the MP3\'s still sound cleaner and more dynamic. IF I intend to edit the vobs will it be easy or is it more complicated then avi.

.VOB = DVD video wrapper which muxes several streams together.  video is mpeg-2.  audio is usually compressed 48khz dolby digital but can be linear 2-chan PCM in some instances.  for music videos i\'d imagine it\'s 640kbps 2.0 or 2.1 DD.

AVI = audio video interleaved.  Any video codec coupled with any audio codec.  For compys.

Question for you:  Will this video be going BACK onto DVD or will you keep it as an AVI on your computer for playback?

.VOBs can be a bytch to edit, I hate dealing with em.  I like to keep everything AVI with codecs of my choosing, but then again I have a compy hooked up to the theater which makes things more flexible.

bzzzt wrong.  You\'re sampling normally from uncompressed sound formats when dealing with mp3. Generally you get either on par (not really) or less. Never better.   Unless you can filter out a shitty mp3 track with heaps of noise.  You can\'t put in information that never existed.

Theres technologies that increase low level noise by shifting the amplitude of the wave forms. Problem is i\'d say it would shift any noise too.  So unless your mp3 is clean. Forget it.
