well maybe thats a good thing,...by the time developers actually do get hold of the hardware with exceptional graphics, usually it\'s at the end of the consoles life...if the ps3, would have had easy to develop for hardware from the jump, we wouldn\'t have to wait just for the "big" studios to give us excellent games...
Um.. All systems have their ramp up time, no system will ever be efficently used in the first few titles (not the 3d systems anyway). Though PS2s curve seems longer, but is that because the system was supported for longer? Xbox was KO the day MS announced 360 (actually even before that). The GameCube, well you know how that went.
In short, its silly to think any system will deliver end-of-generation graphics at the beginning. It has never been true. And as someone said, you cant polish a turd, devs which made shit games on PS2 and Xbox will continue to make shit games on PS3 and 360, easy hardware or not.
the emotion engine? Cell?...nice fancy names, but at the end of the day, they never really made an impact to the point to where it made a MAJOR difference in gaming...
Major difference in gaming? I never claimed that, hardware on its own cant do that, thats up to the software. Emotion Engine was a great processor, do you think PS2 would still be able to WOW and make people go OMFGWTFBBQ without that processor? No, for its time it was a VERY powerful processor, hard to utilize but once the devs got the hang of things it brought us some fantastic looking games.
CELL pretty much rapes everything out there, so yeah its a fucking great processor, ask any dev with half a brain.
people stated that the only reason why xbox games looked better than the ps2 was because it came out after it, well the 360 is out before the ps3 and it\'s games are lookin\' better than most of the ps3\'s games so far...
Depens on how you compare. PS3 launch vs whats out on the 360 right now. Advantage 360. Compare coming titles on both systems? Massive advantage for PS3. Again, its about the ramp up time. PS3 is still on its 1st gen software, 360 is in on its 2nd and soon 3rd gen software. The same was true for Xbox, it took some time before it to deliver its best visuals.
maybe now they can create hardware that\'s easy to develop for and graphical & performance abilities won\'t be such a headache...
Its mostly in the software now. PS3 is better compared to PS2, but still not as easy to code for as the 360. Why? Microsoft is a software company, they have the edge when it comes to the dev tools. Sony OTOH is a hardware company, and they are still builing up their software support. But I think you can ask any dev and he\'ll say they have made big improvements compared to PS2.
those statements that ASH listed also shows sony\'s extreme arrogance with their system..."uh it\'s not a gaming system"......sony\'s gotten away from the very theme that\'s gotten them there in the first place.
Way to concentrate on the negatives.
I dont know how you feel, but for me PS3 really isnt just a game console any more. I run Linux on it, I watch movies. So in that regard Kutaragi is right, but of course its still marketed mainly as a game system. I dont think they have moved away, more like expanding. Sony has over 100 games in development for PS3, so saying they are moving away is gay and silly.
