I bought a fender squier strat guitar (just started). The bridge doesn\'t sit flush to the guitar, all the screws are on angles and the bridge is floating. I\'m not sure if this is normal.

Shouldn\'t have bought a Squier. I bought a good guitar for my first one. I bought a Schecter. They are great guitars. I don\'t regret it one bit.

does it do that with the strings not there? might just be really taught and pulling the bridge.

that or there is some screw/mechanism in the back of the guitar that u have to mess with, but i doubt that. not really sure what\'s all in that back section of the guitar.

It doesnt look TOO bad to me personally. If the guitar is getting out of tune all the time, then its a problem. At least thats my rule of thumb,lol.

It\'s normal. That\'s why they call it a floating bridge. Hopefully you got a whammy bar with the guitar. When you screw the bar into the bridge, you can raise it and depress it to cause the bridge to pivot.

I normally set up a stratocaster so the bridge is NOT flush with the body. This enables you to sharpen the pitches in addition to flattening them.

it looks ok, if it bugs you just open up the back, the springs connect to this metal thing with screws in it. Tighten the screws and it should pull the bridge down. But as Core mentioned, keeping it like this let\'s you get the pitch up just a little bit by pulling on the whammy bar.

thanks for the replies guys. The guitar does keep tune so thats not a issue. I have a few mates that have been doing guitar for a long time. Their first guitars were similar to mine if not the same, but we\'re talking over 15-20 years ago they got theirs.

i bought it as a cheap way to do my martial arts vids when i was doing nunchaku. These days i use it to take quick pics of crap when needed.
