GT5 Prologue - Post E3 video(must see!)

I\'ll be a walking Polyphony Digital advertisement anyday.  ViperFujax,  I\'m not hyping PS3,  I\'m hyping GT5 in this thread.  This game is extrordinary.  It crosses boundaries that have never been crossed.  Ok maybe I\'m talking off the wall but what PD has done is amazing

Exactly what are these mythical boundaries this game is supposed to cross?

I don\'t know about crossing boundaries, but the guys making this game are very dedicated to making the cars look, act, and feel right. Very impressive stuff, for sure.

It\'s a shame that they cannot put a damage model in though.

Ok I think he is overreacting with his statements.

But I have to admit that PD is probably trying to achieve and put too much at the same time in one single game.

I find their effort very remarkable and if the end product ends up with all the things they are planning to include GT5 will be quite an achievement. Probably  the biggest a racing game has ever tried to achieve.

I mean....I ve read some of the features they are planning to put in the final product and I was left speechless. On top of that some images I ve seen show a very impressive attention to detail. The pit-stop sequence shown in the E3 trailer I thought it was CGI and impossible to be reproduced in real time. Well at the end Polyphony Showed images of that sequence in real time. It was a part of the gameplay. The only difference is that it is 30fps

is it going to be online?

and do the cars actually have decent ai now instead of driving on rails?

there are other racing games out there with licensed cars & damage.. why again can GT5 not have this included?

that was one of my quirks with racin\' games,..i hated the fact that the computer drove on rails...they never really challenged to over take you, even if they had one of the more faster cars on the track. i really don\'t care about damage that much,...when they can get the AI strong enough to actually drive like human drivers, then maybe...cause the way the AI  is now, and because they\'re so pre=programmed on the rail system, they\'ll run into you instead of tryin\' to avoid you....
knowledge, wisdom & understanding..these are the basic fundamentals of life

if you can\'t amaze them with brilliance, baffle them with bullsh*t....

They can, but they won\'t.  It would take them way too much time and I doubt it\'ll ever be on their agenda.  Besides, I\'ll take a better AI over damage modeling.

Its a shame that this great looking game will bore me to tears, at least if its anything like GT4.  The only way I\'ll get interested in the game is if it has a robust online multiplayer.  The single player gets so damn old so fast.  I can only go around the same track so many times against the same stupid AI.

I believe forza 2 has some superficial damage, you can\'t total a car.. but it does affect the top speed & handling

better than nothing

Forza\'s developers said that have went through a lot of trouble to put that limited damage though. They had to have permission from manufacturers for each car who had to check the state of that damage feature and refine it according to their demands

It wasnt an easy task.

GT will have 700+ cars according to an interview. Also the man behind the developer said that he d want a realistic damage feature than an unrealistic one.  And the manufacturers arent letting for that. Thats why Forza doesnt have a prober damage feature. The real problem are commercial cars. These are the cars that the manufacturers dont want to present to consumers damaged. I know they are exaggerating but thats how things are.

Because of this PD did say that they are planning to add damage. But only to special racing sports cars if they are going to add it. These are not meant for commercial use. This should have cars such as F1 cars, rally cars and the likes.

They\'ve gone to the extent of having in game cockpits and rear interiors, I would say they are gonna surprise everyone and have damage modeling too.

its not something that would just pop in a game. id be more than astonishily surprised if they added damage like it was adding some little quirk to the game..and i dont even have a word for that
