They\'ve gone to the extent of having in game cockpits and rear interiors, I would say they are gonna surprise everyone and have damage modeling too.

No, there\'s an interview out there where the creator said they will not.

Each car took an insane amount of time to create and adding a damage system would be both costly and time consuming. I\'d bet they\'ll save it for GT6.

Anyway, the Forza 2 damage modeling was sufficient for a sim racer. It\'s no Burnout, because that would be a bit too exaggerated, don\'t you think?

edit: Don\'t mind the "thread derailed", it hasn\'t. I just like this crash in Forza 2. Seems out of place though since the damage system is obviously turned down for this one race.

Still not convinced, he\'s been touting damage since GT2, blah blah blah. The technicalities and excuses for it not being in are few and far between. I imagine there will be superficial damage like scratches and panels etc, but I don\'t think you will be able to total your car.

Which interview? I ve seen another one saying that he will probably add damage for sports cars but not for commercial cars

Damage for F1 cars, I think. But not for your everyday garden variety Civics and Jettas etc etc...

Polyphony Digital Shocks everyone with Gran Turismo 5\'s amazing car list!

As of today Sony has announced the full Gran Turismo 5 car list. It consists of 10000 cars. At launch it will only have 340 cars while the others will be developed in the future. Polyphony Digital will also develop cars for individual clients. That means in the future we could have any car put into the game for a special price. Of course the damage model will be not present in GT5. Below we are attaching the nearly official carlist of GT5. Be ready for more info in the close future!

And the launch will only have 340....

Sounds like a bunch of PR bullshit if you ask me.  Took them how many years of development and they were only able to make 340?  Good luck fitting 10,000 in before the end of time.

Not that 340 is a bad number, hell the 600 something they had in GT2 was almost overwhelming, but seriously, 10,000?  Its not going to happen.  GT8 will be released before it hits that number.
