Oh I know some of you will say "Oh it ain\'t like that, Joe! Let\'em do the time but dayum the media is taking this out of context n blowin this outta proportion!" What context? ESPN has little to report on until the season starts. Just....this is NORMAL. Everyone was all over Chmura (or whatever his name was) when he had groped or had "inappropriate" contact with his 17 yr old baby sitter - only he was acquitted of the crime. He still lost his contract and has retired since.

What\'s happening with the media over this Vick incident is normal procedure, folks.


To a certain degree you are right. I will say if he was white I would not want to see him lose his career over this. I would not want to see Tom Brady go down like this. I will say this Mike Vick is one of the biggest names in sports. I think if he was a lesser known player people probably would give fuck no matter if he was black or white. If he were a third string quaterback we would not even be speaking of him right now.

Honestly, I hate to say it, but giga has a point, look at Josh Hamilton.  The guy is a fricken hero here in cincinnati and started in less than one year after his last known drug use.  This wasn\'t steroid abuse either...

Oh and *cough Pete Rose cough*

I don\'t see Vick getting the heroes welcome when he comes back.  He\'s a thug.

Brett Favre wouldn\'t fight dogs. and not because he\'s white, but because he\'s brett favre. I cant even pick someone who would be fighting dogs for an example. Even then, it\'d have to be a high-profile white player to make any type of comparison. And if there were, I think there\'d be just as big of a deal, but less media attention. So i guess in concern to media, vick being black got more attention. But with the overall sentence, i think it\'d be the same.

and pete rose has gotten very fair treatment. He wants to be in the hall of fame, he wants a part in the MLB, so this permanent treatment is driving him nuts.

:jacked:.....but to get back on topic, viper hit it right on the nose.....Brett would\'ve gotten the same amount of coverage because he\'s a high profile player, same as in vick\'s case, but because he\'s black and i guess the fact that dog fightin\', especially with pits is kinda popular in some urban circles, it\'s gettin\' a bit more coverage, so again race does have somethin\' to do with it, but not on a large scale to any degree.

:fro: It\'s getting coverage because he is an NFL star and it\'s a hideous crime.  It would get the same amount of coverage if freaking Rush Limbaugh was busted doing it.  Any celeb charged with a brutal crime like this is going to get covered.  It is absolutely impossible to say this has anything to do with race.  :fro:
