Short version..

Gabe Newell (Valve) totally goes on a rant about the PS3.

Any thoughts?

My personal thoughts are that in one sense, he is right, Sony did lose sight of the big picture. On the other hand, I find it funny that The Orange Box is coming out for the PS3 and his main gripe is the difficulty of developing for it. He compares the PC and 360, but we all know that the 360 isn\'t exactly hard to develop for,  especially when porting a PC game.

Lazy ass programmer. Of course its easier for the 360. It\'s not that far derived from programming for the PC. The PS3 on the other hand....that\'s totally alien technology from Galaxy X.

yea..it is old news....he disses it, but then it\'s almost like he\'s sayin\' "whelp it\'s wack, but as long as we can make money from it, it\'s all good". Some of what he states is true tho, Sony was and still is all over the place with their marketing strategy. And outside of them havin all these variations of the ps3, i thought the early commercials for the ps3 were kinda creepy...what was up with that disturbed lookin\' baby that would levitate in the air?..:eek:...at least they\'ve gotten that part right cause i don\'t see that omen possessed lookin\' mutant in their ads or commercials anymore...:D

And I\'m happy to see all the negativity for Sony, deserved for all their arrogance...

Hate to break it to you, but Newell is on level with Molyneux and Carmack. Nowhere near Miyamoto or Suzuki, but he is still a big face in the industry and if developers are voicing a concern, then I think there is reason to discuss.  

I\'m sure if he was making a negative comment about the 360, you\'d be all over supporting him.

He sounds extremely biased when he speaks about PS3\'s development. It is hard, but definitely not a waste of time. He is better for PCs.

and why would that be?
he stated last year that the 360 was  making his life difficult because there\'s no standardized hard drive available.
