dvd also looks really good on standard TV.

Unless of course, he doesn\'t have an hdtv, because it seems like he is willing to spend as much as $500 for graphic card, but not on a ps3.

but...even if he does have an hdtv, because dvd\'s still look good on hdtv\'s than HD movies arent worth it.

not to mention that LIC seems a little smarter than to buy an hd-dvd player and not have an hdtv..

but he said he can afford the ps3 if he wants to buy one.  He said the PS3 still doesn\'t have a good reason for him to get one.

I guess he isn\'t into HD picture as much as he into computer online video gaming.  So, he rather spends his money on an expensive graphic card than on a console that don\'t have games that excite him enough to get one yet.  And blu ray won\'t do it as he is okay with dvd picture on hdtv for time being.

how does that counter anything i said? he can afford a ps3, the ps3 doesnt have games, and hd movies arent 500 bucks greater than dvd, so he bought a computer instead of a ps3...

i didn\'t try to counter what you said.  i was questioning why this but not that...more of a curiosity thing.

And i give my reasons and explanations.  and you gives your too.

that was kind of misleading when you said hd movies arent 500 bucks greater than dvd, so he bought a computer instead of a ps3...

Actually, he spent more than $500 for the whole package computer.  The graphic card alone is cost at $400ish or something if i recalled his thread about upgrading to a computer.  And everything else for the for whole computer is like total $1,000 or so...

Paul..

Shut the hell up.

You\'re just rambling, buddy.  I said it all comes down to reasons, I don\'t see a single compelling reason to own the PS3 at this point and time.  What is hard about that to understand?

I can\'t see why High Def movies aren\'t worth it. Then if it\'s not worth it, what\'s the point of HDTVs and watching high def source on them?

I watch movie\'s once most the time. Just like I almost bought into HD satellite, but decided  that I don\'t watch enough TV to warrant the extra cost.
My Hi-Def movie collection (much smaller than the SD one).

Still.... i hope Ati\'s next card is going to bring some REAL competition to Nvidia so overall prices will go down.

I hope so too. But Nvidia already lowered their prices for 8800GT according to rumors. They originally wanted to sell it at $299. So yay for AMD!
