I dont think I would touch anything Apple.. the hardware quality seems pretty crappy.

Being the thinnest laptop ever doesn\'t do much for me.  Especially considering how much they cut out of the thing.

I\'ll wait until they upgrade the macbook pro and go with that.

i\'ve had to haul a heavy ass dell to work everyday for the past month and my lower back is feeling it.  wish my company would get me this... and hope more companies will compete :D

Apple is known for its hardware design and functionality, not necessarily its quality.  I\'m down to like 2 friends out of 30 who own a powerbook that hasn\'t had a harddrive/screen issue and EVERY one of them has had to replace their charger at least once.

If I\'m a friend of yours, Phil, make that 3 friends who hasn\'t had problems with his powerbook. Oh....and the 40 other Macs at the office that has no IT guys there to work on hardware issues (since it rarely happens). Then again, you\'re in college so shit happens when yer constantly lugging them around.

Fair enough, but there are more people in situations like mine than yours.  It\'ll be curious to see what kind of carrying cases they develop.  It would be amusing to see that the amount of padding required to keep it safe made the case larger than say, a typical macbook pro case.

I really, REALLY hope they don\'t get rid of the pro line in favor of the air.  In my opinion the thickness of the pro is absolutely perfect and as much as people think optical drives are obsolete, I don\'t want to have to deal with an external drive.  I use my DVD drive way too much to leave it at home and anything external is going to be more vulnerable to breaking than its internal counterpart.  That and I like to have a spare battery to swap out if I\'m in a 4 hour lecture and I don\'t have access to an outlet.
