to each their own. LCD contrast ratio is still very low, viewing angle is still so-so at best, and also motion blur from mediocre pixel response time.
Maybe if I show you side by side comparison between the best LCD and the best plasma in a control room lighting. You will notice how much better looking the plasma set is.
the best LCD have a true contrast ratio of around 2,000:1 while the best plasma have over 10,000:1.
Also, if you have a 50" LCD in the living room, your viewing angle will be limited and your family won\'t enjoy it much as they sit on different angles from the tv. to have optimal picture quality means you have to sit right in front of the screen, otherwise you get crappier picture with lesser contrast ratio than it already is...plasma don\'t have that problems...
Only problem is most people don\'t watch their LCD TV\'s next to a top of the line plasma in a control room lighting. Also, what if you want a flat panel TV at a size closer to 30" or something. How does plasma make any sense for that?

Very good points being made. Yeah, as of right now, I guess if one want a TV under 37", they have to go LCD as most CRTs are getting discontinued unfortunately.
I think since the year 2005 till now is that consumers have no choice but to go with LCD for display under 37". and still will be for a few more years until there is a killer technology that will eventually replace LCD and that will be OLED. Till then, I guess LCD is the only choice that is available now at a very affordable price.

And until that happens, we can still enjoy their colorful and whimsical commercials

not sure what LCD tv\'s your looking at that look "crappy"
Any one with fast motion.
Try watching the xb4 with any movement on it, it\'s painful. Especially with that Motionflow 120hz on. Funny considering it\'s a bravia commercial.
I like the commercial where the 2 guys are playing what looks to be like a Wii and the black guy tells the white guy to throw him a pitch and the controller goes right through the tv.

I really dont get why basketball is bigger than hockey here. I never catch one regular season nhl game (i blame them and their crappy channel selection/lack of ads), but im loving the playoffs..just wish i had a team to root for, lol. i end up cheering against whoever scores first in a game.
basketball on the other hand is boring as shit
aren\'t most sports are boring when watching?
it would be more fun to play whatever sport you are into than watch it as watching it seems boring to me.

Only sport I ever got into fully was motor sports but I don\'t get Speed Channel at home so I stopped paying close attention. I have Speed Channel at my apartment but the selection of races is all NASCAR which I can\'t get into. I used to watch WRC like a hawk. Its just not the same checking out the websites for stats and everything. And the only driver that\'s around that I like is Petter Solberg and Marcus Gronholm. Even those guys I don\'t know if are still around.

I find almost all sports entertaining to watch. I also like playing most sports. I love going to live sporting events though. The energy in a building during a good game can be amazing, and you really get wrapped up in it.
Of course, I think it helps to be someone who\'s emotionally invested (or monetarily invested) in the outcome.

That\'s why I always let the chick talk first.
