New Resident Evil 5 Screens...

Thanks clips, I had a flash back :)

First Resident Evil 5 Gameplay Impressions.

Quote

Our demo started with S.T.A.R.S. team member Chris Redfield in a crude cabin, watching as an angry, infected horde of locals passed by bearing clubs, axes and machetes. After the initial shock of seeing Resident Evil 5 being played for the first time, on an Xbox 360 we should note, it became clear that anyone familiar with Resident Evil 4 will feel right at home with this chapter.

That\'s not necessarily a bad thing, mind you, just that if you\'re looking for a revolutionary step forward in the gameplay department, a la RE3 to RE4, you might be left wanting. But we digress...

As the town villagers entered the cabin in which Chris was taking shelter, they began to behave almost exactly like their Resident Evil 4 predecessors, dodging fire with a familiar style and lunging after our hero eager to wrap their mutated mandibles around his head. Kawata, at the controls, spent a good portion of his hands-on time shaking off inhuman villagers with a rapid flick of the left analog stick. When Chris fired on the game\'s zombie-like enemies they took a bullet just like the Spanish villagers in 4, squirting copious amounts of blood then dissolving in a pile of bubbling black goo.

While the majority of the enemies Chris was battling were of the disposable villager type, he was being regularly harassed by a much larger hooded character wielding a giant hammer. Analogous to the giant ax-bearing Ganado from 4, it would knock down walls in houses and swat Chris to the ground like an insect. It\'s clear that Capcom knows that there was plenty to like about RE4 and doesn\'t appear to be mucking around with the new formula, from familiar enemies to a recognizable HUD.

I am 100% sure a connection is there, Wesker got the sample and the T-virus it seems was held in the labs in 4 despite that that the enemy were the parasite infected residents.

I miss the old times when corpses would remain visible and twitching at least as long as you were in the area. You sometimes werent sure if they were still "alive" and would grab your food. This does no longer exist anymore unfortunately.

I d like to see some normal zombies too in 5

this is probably one of the first rare games outside of sports genre that features a black character as the main playable character.  Very rarely are there games that feature a black character as the main playable character in any other genres outside of sports.

Like RPG for instance, I think only FFVII is the only FF series that had the first playable black character.  And the interesting is, FFVII is probably the best FF game compare to other series.  Possibly the best RGP too.  Beside having a black playable character, I think it\'s also the first FF to have a playable Asian character.  And maybe a Hispanic one too.  I think Vincent is Hispanic.

like basketball games, and football too in general has playable black characters.  and most of them are based on real life characters.  But outside of sport games, you rarely see a playable black character though.

you\'re comparing fictional characters that people make up to real life people that are put in games. 99% of people in sports games are real people (the other 1% are people like barry bonds who don\'t agree to being in the games)...at least football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. Cant speak for soccer. it\'s pretty obvious you have no idea what you\'re talking about

but clips..you guys have san andreas. what more do you want? :D

and your point about fictional and non fictional character?

Maybe I should have been a bit more clearer.  Outside of sports game, there rarely has been a playable main black character.  Fictional or not.  There, is that better?

sure, sports games have non fictional black players, but outside of that genre, there rarely a playable black character in other genre.  Doesn\'t matter if it\'s fictional or real.  The point i am trying to make is, playable characters that are black.  Most genre have White character as the main lead and playable characters.    But rarely do they have the black characters.  Sure, they may be fictional characters, but that\'s not the point I am trying to make.  it\'s about the race.  Is that more clearer?

you\'re point is kinda retarded. the only point to bringing it up is to say the gaming industry neglects putting black people as playable characters. but what you\'re talking about is that sports have a high percentage of black athletes..that has nothing to do with making games that have black people as playable characters. If more white people were in sports, then there would be more white people in sports games.

you were just typing with no filter of your brain to your fingers, leading to a \'point\' with no purpose..it annoyed me for some reason.

ANYWAY, resident evil will be good..carry on

you\'re point?  your point you mean?  I think there is a miscommunication going on between us.  or some sort of misinterpretation as I don\'t understand what you are really saying.  Maybe I am kind of retarded to understand it.:D

you\'re really going to correct a typo? you said "more clearer" and you correct my typing?

your point is that there arent that many playable black characters. ok? and...? you just wanted to point out some random thought?

and i already stated why you cant clump characters from games like resident evil, which are made up, to games that use real people. if you don\'t get it, there\'s nothing more i can say. but i have a feeling the last post and this one will fly over your head

i think you might be right that it might fly over my head.  I am not understanding it 100%.  but i think i kind of get it, in sports game, it rely on real life characters, which when it come to basketball, and football, there are more black players, so they have to use black players.  So, doesn\'t matter what race it is, they will use those real life characters on videogames...

but in other genres that aren\'t based on real life characters, the artist usually create a white character instead of other race like black.  So, I can see why it\'s not fair to compare between the two...you know what, my brain kind of blank out...*goes to retardation mode*...
