Patient dies in ER...
« on: July 02, 2008, 04:21:17 AM »
I know where this hospital is...me & my wife have actually taken her mom\'s to this hospital....you gotta be careful with those county hospitals, cause s**t like this will actually happen...this s**t makes no sense at all...pathetic.

I had to take my wife to a local county hospital ER down here last Nov. and there was this woman who had some type of wound to the back of her leg,..and blood was just gushing out...seriously....there was Soooo much blood on the floor i mean surprised she didn\'t pass out...there must\'ve been at least well over a quart of blood on the floor,...so finally me and a few people in the ER room went to the nureses station and  stated that they needed to help this woman asap....10 minutes went by without anyone coming,..so we went back up there again and complained...and by this time there was a huge mound of blood on the floor....the blood was so thick.

So after we screamed at these people the nurse finally came out and stated "Oh my god" and ran back to get the lady a wheelchair and brought her to the back....after witnessing that fiasco me and the wifey went to a more prestigious hospital that was about 15 minutes away....so if you could, stay away from those county hospitals...yea..some are ok, but for the most part it seems they just don\'t give a f**k....

my mom was having problems breathing one day so me and my uncle took her to the emergency room.

You\'d think an old lady not being able to breathe would get some sort of attention.... nope. we sat in the waiting room for 3 HOURS before someone would even look at her.

I\'m not gonna pretend to know how a hospital emergency room works, but still...

This is the exact reason I\'m terrified of hospitals. I don\'t even like walking into them. Hospitals freak me out more than funeral homes. Hell, I don\'t even like going to my doctor. I self medicate and stuff when I can. Only really go to a doctor for physicals and when I\'m really sick (like bronchitis or whatnot).

I ve heard that hospitals in the US are extremely expensive. Considering this they should have shown more serviceability than some of you stated.

An American professor who lectured one of my master degree courses had an accident over here and went to the hospital. His jaw dropped when he was told the price. And mine dropped when he told us that we are extremely cheap and he had to pay $125,000 (or was it more) in the US just to fix his broken leg from a car accident.

I remember I had to take one of my golf buddies, Bill Gates, to the hospital. There was nothing wrong with him. He just wanted buy it.

And then I found $5 in the parking lot.

Its not that much to fix a broken leg unless his leg was really fucked up. Most Americans have insurance (I think) so it helps. Though they sometimes screw you over.

I think it is kind of expected for insurance companies to tend to screw over patients when health care covering costs are very high and if I recall they  demand long procedures to service you in such occasions, right?

In general I ve heard that medical treatment costs in US are some of the highest compared to other countries. I ve heard about exceptionally high fees from a few people who have lived in the US. But perhaps it varies from State to State?

I have read a few cases about some hospitals (like in Massachusetts if I am not mistaken) have tried to implement some form of standardization to reduce costs and reduce reluctance from insurance companies to cover them for their patients.

If this was in Canada she would still be in the waiting room. Decaying.
