According to Loose Talk in the latest Game Informer, RockStar North is already working on the next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, which should be ready for release this holiday season.

"We\'re not talking about new DLC or a collection of previously available DLC, we\'re talking about a full retail game. We expect this title to follow the suit of previous GTAs and use a subtitle such as GTA: San Andreas, etc. Tokyo might be a possible setting for the game, but details are non-existent at this time." - Game Informer Issue 190

It wouldn\'t be surprising for RockStar to release the next GTA this soon – as you may recall, Vice City hit the shops only a year after Grand Theft Auto III was released for PlayStation 2.

if it took them so long to make a flawed GTA4, imagine what shape GTA5 would be in when if it is rushed out.

doubt it

they postponed gta4 as long as possible, i dont see them rushing another one out..especially when they havent sqeezed every penny from people for the DLC yet

I passed on gta4....the main character just wasn\'t appealing.....i only liked san andreas and i\'ve only played that game and completed it once and never touched it again....ultimately i guess i\'m not a big fan of these so called "sandbox games"

i actually like niko..maybe not more than CJ but hes still cool. only thing that bugged me with him was his willingness to do missions but between missions he hated what he was doing. why it\'s story got praised as much as it did i have no idea. Him hating it was a good premise, but there were too many contradictions to believe in it

was hyped too much. no way it wasnt going to disappoint a good amount of people especially when all the gaming sites were loving it. now it just seems like the cool thing to do to bash on hyped games. guarantee, no matter how solid of a game KZ2 is, there will be a huge amount of people bashing it

they took a more realistic approach (since they finally could) so they had to get rid of the quirkyness of gta. like alien space ships and tanks and it didnt sit well with people.

I read on another forum that someone within rockstar has categorically denied the next installment in the series being released this year. in fact, they said it might not be released until at least 2011-12, it seems they want to milk GTA4 for all it\'s worth with downloadable content.
