Who ya gonna call??

So its not a industry changing game and it won\'t make half a billion in its first week of sales. But I think the new Ghostbusters game actually...doesn\'t look like shit.

I\'m 23, so it wasn\'t that long ago that my world revolved around Ninja Turtles and Ghostbusters. When I was a kid, I had the Ecto-1 toy car - Firehouse HQ (which was really just a barbie doll house but for little boys) - A proton beam backpack that was a water gun - and dozens of other toys of characters from the movie. But aside from the soft spot I have for the franchise, I think this game looks like a sweet way to waste some nights away with some buddies over xbox live :D The gameplay videos i\'ve watched seemed pretty cool, and I like how all the info in the game, your HUD basically, is all displayed on the proton pack on the back of the Ghostbuster.

type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340">

recreating the ball room scene with slimer? sign me up :) Also the game was written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Rammis a (yes I just fuckin name dropped Dan Aykroyd) and has all the original guys including Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson doing the voice work. Its actually a follow up to Ghostbusters 2 and is a bridge between GB2 and the upcoming GB3 movie.

But yeah, for fans of the movies I think it looks like  a good time :thumb:

This actually looks really good.  Love the multiplayer aspect.  I hope there\'s something about the huge containment unit in the game.  Loved when they showed views inside that thing when i was kid :)

If you\'re 23, that means you weren\'t born yet when the first movie was released in 1984.  How were you interested in this as a child?  Was it the cartoon series that caught your attention?  I\'m just curious about this because I\'ve been wondering if the Ghostbusters franchise still has any value.

I was in high school when the first movie was released.  My friends and I found it highly entertaining at the time.  The second movie not so much.

last time I played anything to do with ghostbusters, it looked like this:

I liked the movies, dont get me wrong, but they weren\'t big enough for me to die to have a decent game (8-8.5 ratings im assuming) and spending 60 bucks. I love coop, but i bet once i beat it once with a group a friends ill be completely done with the game.

Is there multiplayer or is SP/Coop it? Because i cant imagine it being longer than uncharted 1, which was a perfect length but still not a long game

The cartoon i\'d imagine is probably the first thing I saw, and wanting the toys.

and Viper I know theres co-op but not sure what, or if any other multiplayer modes there are.

23 and remember ghostbusters quite fondly as well.  Didn\'t realize the first one came out two years before I was born, I just remember always having a copy of it on VHS at home.  Watched that movie all the friggen time, and yes I watched the cartoon but I don\'t remember that as much as the actual movies.

About the game, there is no campaign co-op. They wrote it like a movie and the script only has one new Ghostbusters recruit. Kind of a bad excuse, but oh well.

I believe there is a co-op style multiplayer mode, and I think I remember it also being competitive, like maybe you still compete for score or something. Off the top of my head.

That sucks no campaign co-op :(

Pulling this from the IGN review about multiplayer modes

There are four campaigns (which are the teaming of three level parts) for you and the team to go through, but these are just pulled from the six job types that you can tackle. Containment simply asks you to trap as many ghosts as you can in a given time limit, Survival will go for as long as you can stay alive and keep time on the clock by trapping spirits, Destruction means you and the team have to destroy a set number of evil relics, Slime Dunk is a competition to see who can dunk Slimer into the trap the most times, Protection has you guarding some of Egon\'s equipment and you\'ll have to keep some pesky spirits from making off with artifacts in Thief.

8/10 at IGN.

also lots new gameplay videos there today too
