Activision studio Neversoft is hiring for a AAA first-person shooter according to its recruitment page.

Call of Duty is Activision\'s number one FPS priority these days, with Infinity Ward, Raven, Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch all thought to be working on entries in the franchise.

Modern Warfare 3 would be the next logical release, but has yet to be announced. Details of a new Black Ops map pack were leaked today.

“Neversoft is prepping for a new FPS”

Neversoft worked solely on Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk games since 2000, with Gun, the 2005 western, the only exception. Activision dropped the Guitar Hero franchise in February of this year following diminishing returns from the rhythm-action genre.

Now, according to Neversoft\'s recruitment page it\'s prepping for a "new FPS", hiring for nine related positions including level designers, artists and multiplayer gameplay designers.

One position, Windows platform lead engineer, also confirms the game for PC. No other details are mentioned.

Is it Call of Duty related? Activision certainly isn\'t short of ideas for spin-offs.
