We need a political thread to get people fired up.

I'll start.

Remember when people here would vigorously defend their party of choice...does anyone still think that way? I'm of the opinion that the only difference between the two parties are largely unimportant social issues.

Cause Barack Obama looks a lot like George W Bush from where I'm sitting (in the distance of Canada...objective observe).

Dafuq is going on down there?

Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

I think many in the US have realized by now it's a matter of which flavor puppet we vote into office. So yeah, you hit the nail on the head. Some of us have been seeing them as more like Democans & Republicrats for decades.

I think both parties suck. I don't vote on party lines. I look at the politicians ideals, his or her character and their voting record. If they seem like scumbags I'll vote third party and throw away my vote.

No good strong businessman who could actually run the country properly would ever run for office.  They could have butted in line at KMart 14 years ago and someone will come out guns ablazing about how dishonorable the person is.

I still think Obama and what he stands for is ludicrous and I just can't stand behind him.  The health care crap as flawed as it was before is way worse now and it will never get better because no one will give in.

The Canadian pipeline is ludicrous that we aren't building that thing.

List goes on....  And I can't stand watching him speak.  He's terrible without a script and I just don't like the preacher feel.

I'm still on the fence about obamacare. I'm on it and its helping me out tremendously. I don't get benefits at my job and before obamacare my rates were half my salary and I was ending up in debt. Now I have banging coverage for a fraction of the cost and a lot of my friends who are young professionals are benefitting. What I don't agree with is forcing people to buy it or get penalized. I feel the execution was poor and regulating the industry more could have been more beneficial instead of the overhaul. I guess only time will tell.

I don't see how healthcare is worse now.  It's actually demonstrably better for a great many people.  Including Titan as he described in this thread.  Almost all the complaints about it are vague are baseless.

The reason we shouldn't build the Keystone XL pipeline is because it will contribute to climate change and won't make any difference to the energy prices here in the United States.  We desperately need to keep hydrocarbons in the ground and not release them into the atmosphere.  How much simpler can it be?

I'm not big on Obama as i used to be, and while his healthcare plan isn't the greatest it is far better than what it was before. I mentioned a while ago that i tried to get coverage for my daughter because her finger was infected...i was denied because she had a pre-existing condition....such bulls**t. Now insurance companies can't pull that garbage or deny anyone and that is how it should be.

Y'know he did get our troops out of iraq and afghanastan, so he gets points for that and Osama was waxed on his watch. I think he could do a little bit more, but really there is only so much the guy can do with republicans challenging him on every front. And if the next prez is a republican, you can bet that dems will be blocking everything that prez wants..it's just a vicious cycle...

Lastly i agree that maybe his healthcare could've been implemented in another fashion, maybe not as a requirement or you'll get penalties, but i idk. I'm sure folks wouldn't purchase it if it was up to them and at it's core, the plan was setup to have everybody contribute to keep costs down and in a perfect world it would have a dramatic impact, i think it can still be done, it's just going to be a slow progress...Still....when obama became prez back in '08...it was an unbelievable moment...

From what I remember about Obama pulling the troops out of Iraq, I believe what it was is that Bush made a deal that we were pulling out on a set date and Obama just honored it. So if that's true, its not like he made the decision to do it. It was something carried over from the last administration. Don't know the full story but that's what I remember. So I guess Obama didn't do shit.

Obama plain sucks bro.

He promised hope and they took off his mask to reveal another version George W Bush. They are EERILY close.

Him being a constitutional law professor and signing NDAA was a complete joke. An absolute tragedy and hopefully that thing keeps getting rejected in appeals court cause he basically declared war on the American public with that.

Not even sure there can be a "good" president anymore. The real problem with the American system is political funding and lol it just got a lot worse recently.

I'm Canadian so I'm going to stop here but lolAmericanPolitics.

@vid

Stop being such a Republican sheep about Obamacare. It either works or it's far too soon to analyze the results. The Republicans continuing to hammer it are just trying to prevent the Democrats from gaining credit. It's like Republican Rome all over again! Vote down the opposing parties bills wherever and whenever.

Ugh Republicans. Keep telling yourself man made global warming is a myth despite every independent scientist telling you otherwise.

Personally I try not to get bogged down with discussing politics on gaming forums :P

I've lost a lot of a friends on some communities for even lightly discussing political policies.

Oh the good old days here. This is tame for how it used to be. Threads would be closed left and right, members throw hissy fits and leave. Though the discussions were fun. There used to be a separate forum for political debate.
