Borderlands: The Pre Sequel
« on: June 07, 2014, 06:40:40 AM »
Not sure if any of you have been following this. But this is the newest installment in the Borderlands franchise set before Borderlands 2. Looks very much the same which to me is a good thing. The funny thing is they aren't releasing it on Next Gen systems so if you want to play this, don't sell your PS3's just yet :)

Its coming :) Next week I think. I'm looking forward to it but not getting it at launch. I still find it very weird that they aren't releasing it on new-gen consoles. I wonder if this is just a quick, easy money grab from Gearbox. From what I hear, this game isn't even supposed to be as large as Borderlands 2 but with all the DLC  nickel and diming we've come to love from Gearbox :D Either way, I'll be picking this up within the next few weeks (getting Alien Isolation first. Get this game when I'm done with that).

Principally developed at 2K Australia, with supervision from series creator Gearbox, the shooter takes place between Borderlands and Borderlands 2. It's set on the moon off Pandora and focuses on the rise of the second game's primary antagonist, Handsome Jack.

A four-piece Borderlands The Pre-Sequel DLC season pass will launch alongside the game, offering new characters, missions and weapons post-launch.

In July, Gearbox's Borderlands franchise director Matt Armstrong said the studio hadn't ruled out the possibility of Borderlands The Pre-Sequel launching on PS4 or Xbox One in the future, although he added that a new-gen release wasn't on the cards at the time.

"The vast majority of our fans still have their Xbox 360 [or PS3]," he explained. "The other thing is it's the middle game in a trilogy. Moving it on to next-gen and requiring people to buy new hardware to play the middle entry in a trilogy feels a little disingenuous and we sort of want to respect that.

"As we said, one day maybe, I don't know. We'll think about that, see how people react to the game, how much fun they have and whether or not everyone moves on to the next gen fully next year. For now we're pretty happy with our choice and I think people are going to be to."
