Rate the last movie you saw
« on: August 03, 2014, 05:16:48 AM »
This can be either in the theaters or on video. Or even just a crappy made for TV movie. But what was the latest movie you saw and what would you rate it?

Last movie I saw was Due Date on Blu-Ray. It stars Robert Downey Jr and Zach Galificanakis (or however the hell you spell it). I have to say it is a very entertaining movie. The personality mix of Downey and Zach was what made this movie (RDJ because he's awesome and Zach plays loser/antisocial characters very well). The movie is about RDJ's character (who has anger problems) trying to get home to California for the birth of his first child. He has to travel by road because Galificanakis' character lands him on a no fly list due to an incident on the plane. They have to travel together and craziness ensues on the way to California.

I'd rate it 7.5/10 mostly because the story is pretty generic but its definitely worth checking out especially if you are a fan of either actor. They feed into each other very well and the movie is pretty funny.

Guardians of the Galaxy - 8.7

I liked it a lot and am now on the hunt for a groot figurine to add. It's still ultimately a popcorn flick and i didnt leave the theater awe-struck, but considering the direction transformers and some other action-oriented movies are going this is definitely a great one in that genre

You bought the movie and yet were surprised you were able to watch it again?  They don't rent movies where you live?

forgive my broken english.  lately i have trouble sitting for hours to watch an entire movie.  a few months back, i sit for like 5 to 10 minutes watching chinese hong kong videos on the internet.  i keep getting up and went to bed and lay down after 5 to 10 minutes.  either that or i just walk after every 5 to 10 minutes.

there are movie rentals where i live but i don't rent them.  mostly because i can't sit still for long to watch it.  speaking of which this past few weeks, i manage to sit a lot longer to watch tv shows.  i am just a weird person.

How to Train Your Dragon 9.5/10

I saw this one again the other night. Saw it a while ago but forgot how good it was. I have to say I love this movie and was one of the finest and beautifully animated movies I have ever seen. Everything from the detail of the hair and outfits, characters and sets to the dynamic lighting that they employed truly sucked me into the movie. Not only that but it was extremely well written. The relationship between Toothless and Hiccup can be seen without words even being exchanged. Furthermore, the themes that were portrayed in the movie were very well written too. The biggest one was the relationship between Hiccup and his father and how disappointed he is that his son is not the Viking he wants him to be but eventually comes to accept and be proud of him. This is definitely a must see. But definitely have to get it on Blu-Ray to truly appreciate the animation.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus- 8/10

I have to say, this wasn't a bad movie. I have to give them points for pulling off a movie when the main actor died a third of the way through it. For those of you who don't know, this was the last movie Heath Ledger was in. I'm a Heath Ledger fan so I wanted to see it. It took me 5 years but glad I did. Basically the movie follows a small theater troupe ran by a centuries old monk who made a deal with the devil for everlasting life. The catch is as part of the deal, he must give the devil his daughter on her 16th birthday. He makes a new deal with the devil to keep her daughter but it is a race to get 5 souls. In the meantime, they save Ledgers character from dying who now has a bout of amnesia but they eventually learn of his shifty past.

This movie is worth checking out, especially if you like Heath Ledger. How they filled the holes in scenes where he was dead was pretty well done and they ended up bringing in Ledger's friends Johnny Dep, Colin Farrell and Jude Law to play Ledger's character in the dream world. A lot of rewriting had to be done but they pulled it off. If you do decide to see this movie, its worth getting it in HD because the special effects are pretty cool. Also, if you smoke weed, I'd do that beforehand because it is a movie you can appreciate when your high :)

Return of the Jedi.

The final 3 way showdown between Luke, Vader and the Emperor is probably the most powerful scene in the saga and very well executed (despite the infamous "NOOOOOOOO!!!"). I didn't hate the Ewoks as much as some people, though I didn't love them as much as my girlfriend did.

8/10
