Square announced that they would like to go multiplatform and support all systems except for Sega(Square are jackasses now).  But they do not want to have conflict with there relationship with Sony.  After Sony had spent well over 250 million plus on the Final Fantasy movie, plus Square will get a percent on the movie when it is released in theaters, which is supposed to dominate the box office for at least 1 month or maybe even 2.

Now this is money in Square\'s pocket too, but if they do want to keep that movie production going, they cannot make Sony mad in any way, because they can stop the movie from being released anytime.  Since Sony did produce the movie and put the production money in(common sense tells you this)Sony does have rights to the Final Fantasy name itself.....

A suggestion has been thrown out by Square several times.  They could port games to the X-Box through EA in Japan only since EA does publish Square games in Japan, but here is the problem EA does not publish games in the US for Square only in Japan.  Square develops and publish games by themseleves here in the US.  So if you see an announcement like this "Square signs on to the X-Box" this week or next week, be warnful that this could only be in Japan we are talking about here, not in the US.

Square is in the biggest spot in there life, Lord knows that Square doesn\'t want to throw out a movie they worked on so long just to sign onto the X-Box, when they will be getting percents for the movie at the Box Office.  Damn I hate to be Square these days.

Square wants to support Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo(Finally mended fences).

Here is a suggestion I have thought of to make Sony happy, and Square happy.

Sony should let them develop for X-Box here in the US, but telling Square to leave 50 exclusives to the PS2 only, games that could only be seen on the PS2.  That would probaly include Final Fantasy, and The Bouncer, or other games.

If there is announcement stating Square will develop for X-Box in the US.  We probaly know that Sony gave them an ok on the situation and the Final Fantasy movie would now still go on, but there would be exclusives to the PS2 from Square....

Then officially Square would develop for Sony(More exclusives would be given to them), X-Box(Less Exclusives to them, but some), Nintendo(Ports from X-Box or the PS2 would be given to them, and maybe an exclusive).

Whatever the case may be we know Sony will have a say in it, hopefully they would go multi-platform.

Square is the heart and soul of Sony!

I hate that stupid Gamecube......
I wouldn\'t really care if Square developed for Xbox as long as the Final Fantasies stayed, but if they develop for Nintendo....
This is just MY opinion though.....

I was meerly making light the idiocy in you misinforming, misleading, and over-all confusing post. But Since you have aquired my attention, lets begine.

Square has never siad they wish to support all platforms. There are rumers that Square might develope for other consouls but this is mostly wishful thinking. The only reason these thoughts ever came around is because Nontindo and Microsoft are trying very hard to get Square.

Square is releasing the movie through sony. True some production cost is paid for by sony but thats mearly protecting an investment. Highley aclaimed critics have predidcted that this movie will remain on hgih for the hole summer.

Sony does not have the rights to Final Fantasy, Square does. Besides Square could say right now that they are not bringing any games to PS2 instead are sending them to X-Box and Sony couldn\'t do a thing about it becuase they have a contract. Sony could be sued for breach.

Yes EA publishes Squares games. BUT every time they must negotiate with square on publishing royaltys and on top of this Square can simply not give them the License to poblish any of thier games.

As mentioned before Square will gain the royalties from the movie.

As my first sentense Square has siad no such statment. Square can develop for who ever they want without Sony\'s permision. Sony would only reduse thier profit margins on each game sold.

Where the hell did you get this Idea?

My Thesis was on Square and thier Busness practices. The only game that is likley to go anywhere. Is Final Fantasy X1:Onliine Another World which would go to the X-Box simple because It will have a broadband modem. And PlayOnline needs alot of poeple to be successful.

Arn\'t you the one that said Square would not develop for the xbox because of stock issues?

Square is going to develop for the xbox in the USA and anything else is just another person who doesn\'t understand  the relationships of Square. :)

I didn\'t say they wouldn\'t develop, because I encourage them to develop for other gaming companies.

Im the one who siad it was very unlickly for Square to put any game Other then Final Fantasy XI on another system. I however have a clear understanding and am kept well informed.

Am I the only one who does not see any reason for Square to not go MultiPlatform? The only reason they went to Sony in the first place was because of better development issues. Now if their are 3 or 4 really good systems out. What is to stop them from going multi-platform and maximizing profit?

Maybe its just me. But that seems to make more sense.

If that is the case then, if Square left Sony they would die away. That doesn\'t say much for Sony or its developer support. Basically, thats wrong. Sony could make it without Square.

As for Square going mulit-platform, it makes sense. They would get a ton more money. Porting the PC version a Final Fantasy game to the Xbox is beyond simple, so that would be easy. Will they? Who knows. No one expected them to leave Nintendo, and infact they kept saying they wasn\'t and showing tech demos of FF7, before the announcement of Sony support came along.

Yep, they do. \'Cept Tobal No 2 and that wasn\'t developed by Square really. I figure the Bouncer will suck also, maybe not. I\'ll rent it before I buy.

I was just saying, if Square left Sony, it would hurt Sony in the RPG business so badly.  I always look foward to Final Fantasy games.
