Armored Core 2 sucks...
« on: December 18, 2000, 02:07:02 PM »
...Or maybe it\'s me that sucks but I can\'t seem to beat any of the damn missions.  I do fine in the arena but when I get into a mission situation I get molested.  What\'s going on?  I\'ve only been able to beat the first one and from then on the MT\'s tend to just gang rape me.

Any suggestions?

AC2 does suck, and I\'m the biggest fan, but it still sucks.

They never improved on their mission prep\'s.  That\'s what was bad about the first 3 games.  I run out of ammo on a lot of the missions.

Then on the "catch the enemy mission", they don\'t tell you, you won\'t be able to catch the bastard unless you buy some $70g legs.

I also get slowdown on the bomb disarm mission.

I quit playing it after 2 days and now I\'m playing DOA2 and thinking about getting FF9 or Breath of Fire4.

This is probably becaues you either waste your ammo and you cant aim properly, or you dont equip enough weapons.

"catch the enemy mission"? What\'re you talking about? The mission where you have to assasinate a spy? The mission wher you have to stop the carrier thats holding a disorder unit? ???

And this is a problem because... ??? Its not like you have to fight a ton of enemies in this mission, only a couple of interceptions with some flying enemies once in awhile. All you have to do is find the controls to disarm the missles, and you\'re done. I dont see why slowdown is such a big problem for you.

The controls scheme is really the only good reason I can see why people wouldn\'t like AC2. It takes awhile to get used to it, and learn how to move around while aiming at your opponent(s). Minor things like slowdown and running out of ammo are just stupid.

Stiff controls?... Hm... Well, if AC\'s controls dont suit you, theres always the super fast paced and arcade-like Virtual On:Oratorio Tangram on the Dreamcast. Its one of my favorite mech games. :) And I hear that Sega is making another sequel/updated to it..... Cant wait.....

P.S.- Apharmd Battler and Cypher kick mucho aZZ. :)

I own all the games and I finished the 3 for PS1.  Just because I don\'t think it\'s perfect doesn\'t make me any less a fan.

when I say slowdown i mean - My PS2 unit "slows" down operationwise.  The whole game goes into slow-mo.  After I kill around 5-6 enemies it goes away but yes this is a problem.

The mission where you run out of ammo is the 2nd mission I believe where waves of MTs come after you and once again you don\'t know how many until you play the thing once and run out of ammo, which is a lack of the ability to prepare for the mission due to no explanation.  And I don\'t waste ammo, there just isn\'t enough firepower to take out that many unless you charge with your laserblade and take major damage.

I\'m not sure of the name of the "chase mission"; it\'s the one that takes place in the subway tunnels early in the game.  the target takes off and you can\'t catch it unless your leg speed > 350.  Which once again they only tell you "catch the target".  Which is again the lack of the ability to prepare yourself due to no explanation.

AC:PP for PS1 is prob best mech game out there, but still leaves a lot to be desired.  So I\'ll wait for something better.

I didn\'t say the game was perfect now, did I? For you to be having problems like these and be the "biggest fan"... Heh...

... The way you describe it, its seems like its your Playstation 2\'s fault, not the game itself. The game does have a little slowdown problem, just to let you know. But its not so bad that it makes the game suck or anything like that.

THAT mission? Well no wonder... You\'re not supposed to go after the enemy MTs.(But they\'re no problem for my spiffified AC ;)) You\'re supposed to destroy the SPY. It even said so in the briefings. Suggestion: Play in the arena mode and get a better generator and boosters,(Or get the human plus enhancement that reduces the amount of energy you use when you boost), and a Large/Small Rocket Launcher or a Grenade Launcher. When you first start the mission, overboost to the top of the spaceship and look for your target. Snipe the spy from the top of the spaceship. You\'ll complete the mission and lose only about 300 credits. :)

Heh... What you have to do in this mission, is activate your Limiter Override(press L2, R2, and R3 at the same time to do this. You\'ll get unlimited energy long enough to get the job done), then Overboost(R3) towards the carrier. You\'ll have enough energy to keep close to the target and fire away at its defenses. You wasted your money on those 70,000 dollar legs. :)

Virtual On:Oratorio Tangram is a awesome mech fighter, but a little on the arcadey side... I hear From Software is making a update/sequel to Armored Core 2.

AC2 isn\'t perfect, but I still like it.

I have played through it many times and I know what to use for each mission that I play.  I\'m sure that the next game will include online play so get ready for the real challenge.  The real charm of AC games come with the Vs. battles, especially if you have your units linked for full screen play!  If you every need any help with the game just ask, I\'ll be glad to help.  Or come over and hang out with us at my site.

It will be a tag team game. Sega isn\'t developing it. Its about %30 percent complete. It isn\'t known what system it will be on, but probally DC as all the Virtual On games have been on a Sega system.

I don\'t consider them problems, just b/c I don\'t like a certain part of the game.

I doubt it\'s the PS2.  I have had probs w/no other games; only this one.  No it doesn\'t make the game suck if it\'s only in there once....

Wrong mission; I\'m not talking about that one.  This one is in a lab with 2 big waves of 3 different sized walking MTs.

No, overboost will not work in this hallway but once, then you don\'t have time for it to charge again.  I didn\'t waste 70g on legs, I wasted $50 on this game :)

I don\'t have DCast.  Only PS2, but what I played of Virtual On I didn\'t like.  If Software makes another AC game I will definitely rent first.

I doubt its your PS2 as well. The slowdown in AC2 shouldn\'t be all that bad for you, sometimes it actually helps so you can see where all the enemies are attacking from and dodge their attacks/set yourself up in a better position to destroy them.

I know what you\'re talking about now. This is the mission where you have to defend the newly built lab against all of those disorder units. You have to bring highly damaging weapons that kill the Disorder Units in one hit for this mission. Hit and run tactics with the LS-Moonlight work really well.

You didn\'t read all of my post. I said to do a LIMITER OVERRIDE first, which will give you unlimited energy for around 2 minutes or a little less. You can overboost/dash as much as you want when you have your limiter override on. But when the limiter override is over, you\'re stuck with no energy for around another 2 minutes. So get the job done fast.

BTW, this works wonders when you have the Karasawa Mk. II.

Either you didn\'t like the fast paced arcade like feel of VO:OT, or you didn\'t play it enough. ;) Tell me your impressions of the game, please.

Been too long to remember VO:OT.  Have you played until the end of AC2?  Are there any more cores?

At the beginning of the game there is only 3.  The VS part of AC2 is good.  But I don\'t care for the missions.

What other systems is VO:OT on and who makes it?
