X-Box upgraded to 1GhZ......What the ****......?????

No, by about this time next year, 1 Ghz would cost only about $100.  Right now, 733mhz is only like $100 something.  Also, Microsoft is buying a large amount and will get a discount

the cheapest P3 733 is 163 USD right now.  a P3 1 ghz is 440.  lets say the gig cpu comes down to 100 USD next year [speculation], ummm, there goes the 300$ price tag.

The Xbox has a 733 Mhz Pentium III.  The EE is three times more powerfull at floating point than a Pentium III 500, not a Pentium III 733 which would make the Xbox\'s CPU much more powerfull at floating point than the Pentium III 500.  Its still not as powerfull as the EE, but then of course you have the 140 Gigaflops on the Xbox GPU which more than makes up for that.  So if you add the GPU and CPU together it will toast the EE easily, just like on the GameCube both Flipper and Gekko Toasts the EE when used together.

The Xbox specs are final and 733 Mhz is all they really need anyway.  To tap in to outperform the xbox on the Pentium III CPU alone, you would really have to know how to program the EE to make that happen and as you can see so far this is not happened and probably won\'t happen for awhile and I am just talking about the Pentium III only.

Another thing about the PS2 headstart?  Cut it down to Six months instead of a year, because no new games are coming out that are worth buying as of yet and it won\'t be for awhile and by March Microsoft will be in full swing showing games and such and so will GameCube.  

So in reality, Sony thought they had a year lead but they really won\'t.  People will be waiting for the two new consoles on the block.

Just forum freaks like us.  Casual gamers don\'t give a damn about XBox; they know nothing of it until the commercials hit.  And casuals are 80% of the gaming base (at least).  Gamecube has a better shot than XBox - at least some people had the N64 and recognize Nintendo\'s FRANCHISES.  What are the XBox\'s franchises?  Sorry?  Halo?  Oddworld (yeah, it did well on PSX)?  A bunch of Sony hand me downs to be released later? (MGS, FF)  No... XBox\'s exclusives are still new to the casuals.  They have to make a name for themselves before dominating anything, and it takes a little while to get your own "franchise" games.  The "truth" is this: PSX sold 40 million in the US.  PS2 has 350 developers.  Casual gamers KNOW Sony\'s franchises.  Why in the hell would they wait an extra year?  Microsofter\'s who want to keep up the silly domination angle need to PRAY that the shortage continues for the next two years.

And those shortages want continue, because Sony plans to hit 10 million by March 2001, that\'s when most of the new games are release.

Even if they upgraded the chip to 1GHZ it wouldn\'t have done anything really great for the system.  The graphics are done by the GPU and not the PIII.

The PIII is for physics and AI only so if anyone who tells you that the 1GHZ will make Xbox the most powerful system tell them they are full of BS!

I AM NOT IMPRESSED BY THE PIII.  I use a P3 800mhz here at work and a P2 350mhz at home and guess what?  NO BIG DIFFERENCE.  Others may see improvement but not me.

And when I build my next PC, it\'s going to be AMD Thunderbird all the way.

yeah, really there isn´t a bisg difference between a pII 350 MHZ (mine) and a PIII 800 MHZ, same velocity!

hello everyone, this is my first post at this forum. i hope that these boards will allow freedom of opinions even if they are contrary to the dominate opinions that are expressed here. now that my introduction is out of the way, there seems to be a misconception that the casual gamer may not wait for the xbox to be released before buying a console. this couldn\'t be further from the truth. the fact that casual gamers are by nature not influenced by mega hype is why they may decide to wait for the xbox or gamecube. that means, that sony\'s hype, as well as ms\'s hype will not be an influence in their decisions, but each individual will make his/her own choice based upon certain things that appeal to that particular person. i am a casual  gamer, and i decided to wait before trying to buy a ps2 b/c i was not sucked in by all the hype. now i can wait just fine until the xbox\'s release and make an unbiased decision as to what appeals to me. i must admit though, that what i\'ve read, and ppl i have talked to, along with my personal experiences and impressions of the ps2, the xbox is lookin\' mighty strong.

The fact of the matter is that casual gamers, who make up more than half the gaming population, know absolutly nothing about the X-Box. Only us internet forum freaks. Most people, and all my friends say, "X-Box, whats that?" and once I tell them what it is they say, "Oh, wow, since X-Box has more mega-whatever it must be more powerful than the PS2!" or some people already know about it and say, "Hey, I just heard about this brand new thing called the "Z-Box" or whatever and I hear its more powerful than the PS2! Yeah, PS2 sux! Z-Box is better!"

I\'m so sick of lamer casual gamers who know nothing about the video game marketing, development, or anything except how to pull of a inverted-super-mega-hyper-hado-kick-a$$-ken-spinning-death-piledriver-gou-hado-shouken-ninja-star-flying-crap-ultra-maximum-tampon-soaring-penis super hyper mega combo finish in Gay-Men vs Lesbian Fighters(no offense to the Capcom series). i guess i should have expected this type of attitude, anyway i gave my honest opinion as to what i thought. i have carefully researched both consoles to MY satisfaction and i believe i am making an informed decision based on what appeals to me. frankly speaking the ps2 has shown me nothing impressive IMO the screen shots that are shown are only as good as some pc screen shots. there have been bugs in the system and that is not what i would want. plus there are other reasons that i won\'t go into now. the ps2 is a good system, but i believe the xbox will be better IMO. now i may not be a hard core gamer, but i am an informed gamer which it seems that you are not b/c it is obvious that you know very little about the xbox. you are very childish and immature as well. if my status as a casual gamer makes me lame, i wonder what does your lack of intelligence make you? and finaly, just b/c gamers don\'t know about xbox now does not mean that will always be true. let\'s see if that will be true in a year. btw, thanks for the cordial welcome...... OH YEAH I\'M GONNA LOOOOVE THIS PLACE!!!!
