Why is it that people are so totally oblivious to the fact that Sony is going to dominate the Dreamcast? It is only a matter of time before it happens. Right now, I will admit, Sega is leading...ONLY because it has been out for longer, but as Sony progreses, Sega is gonna start worrying. Why is Sega selling systems for 150? Why are games being sold for 20 bucks? Sega is in the early stages of worrying...How long is Sega gonna last?

 I think everyone here is aware that the PS2 will eventually overshadow the Dreamcast. But with the lack of quality software(right NOW... That\'ll change next year), and the shortages... People are looking at the Dreamcast instead. But as soon as these two problems are fixed, the PS2 will indeed do better than the Dreamcast.

Was it really necessary to make your 1st post on this forum a hateful one towards Sega owners.

Other forums may have severe problems with over zealous Sega lovers / Sony haters but here there is pretty much a mutual respect.

Well I\'m sure you\'ll have your hands full dealing with the DC fans

I sort of agree.  In time, the Dreamcast will become but a memory.  I think that time will be around mid-late 2002. The PS2, on the other hand, has a very bright future.  It won\'t be long before it takes the lead.  I have respect for the DC though.  The only thing that is keeping me from buying one is my financial situation, which is barely allowing me to buy any PS2 games right now.  Anyway, that\'s my 2 cents (now I need it back, those were the only pennies I had).

Add to your argument, PS2Begining, the constant murmurings of Sega chopping its console-focus and becoming an EA Sports-type multi-console software publisher, and you gotta wonder about Sega.

But again, a couple points to consider: 1) First & foremost, what I just stated has yet to be confirmed by Sega, 2) [wish Sega *would* confirm #1] b/c frankly producing hardware chews up a company\'s profits considerably...but not so true with software development (especially on multi-plats), 3) [related to #2] Sega\'s in-house development makes some sweet games which they lose distribution outlets to b/c they won\'t multi-plat, and 4) all this considered, were Sega to ditch all future console efforts and focus on multi-plat software development, their profits could do quite well.

Welcome to the forums PS2Begining!  Merry Christmas!

Oh give me a break. Oh yeah the PS2 is just soooooooo going to dominate the dc! What the hell are you smoking? They are both good systems. But the DC is kicking ass game wise right now, maybe not sales. But if we are talking games, the DC is an excellent system, that is highly under-rated . And anyone who isn\'t biased (I.E not you or DocWiz) would realize that.

Advice: Re-Register and make a new first post. Why? Because you\'ve got off on the wrong foot already.

Oh yeah, and we have something called CONSOLE DEBATING here..Its a forum to use for non-sense posts like these. You\'ll also find there is plenty of dumb DC vs PS2 threads on it.

Excuse me while I induce vomiting..It seems there is another blind, biased fanboy....

Be sure you have made it quite high on my list, rigth off the bat nonttheless!

Why is Sega selling their hardware at 150? It has been out longer than a year. It originally sold for 200. The question really is, is why are Sony and Nintendo still selling their 5 year old hardware at $100? If it came out at 300 al la PS2, than I would be worried.

Why are some games selling for 20 dollars? They are called All-Stars. Why are Sony classics selling for 20 on PSX? Oh, the PSX must not have been a success because I see tons of 20 dollar software.

Sega is worrying? please give me a link where they say this? Please, indulge me.

Hmm, since Sega is as old as Sony is, and has been making videogames for MUCH longer than Sony and Nintendo, I will have to say quite a long time. DC has sold 3 million consoles first year. No console has ever done that. Why do you think, now that PS2 is out, people will just abandon it? That is got to be the dumbest thing I have heard all week!

Why will DC be but a memory, 182ways? I know I will be playing mine for years down the road. Even if by some strange phenomenon, it stopped, I would still have aboroud 50 good quality games to play.

Why does everyone count DC out? Nintendo stayed alive drudging just about every series they had back onto N64. It looks like Sega is doing it, quite sucessfully, might I add. Don\'t say DC is going to be eclipsed. You really don\'t know. I didn\'t think anything of SOnys success with the PSX first year. Then I saw Twisted Metal. Sega and Nintendo made some bonehead mistakes. Sony is not going to be that lucky this time. Sony may eclipse DC\'s sales by the time X-Box comes out, then GC will come out. Both with a truckload to mow over even the PS2\'s ridiculous hype (Toy Story like graphics? :D). $500 million is alot, and that is just Microsoft.

You may be singing a different tune, such as the one I am singing, when X-Box comes out and sells out first months. Than you will have to put up with the same bull**** that I have to, defending the console of your choice.

You are not off to a good start, but welcome to the forums, may you stay here and learn much about gaming! :)

Okay Sony kills the Dreamcast (which was supposed to already have happened, but because of the incompetance of Sony they have failed in this aspect), but lets say Sony does kill Dreamcast, what will happen with Sony when Xbox or Gamecube kills the PS2?  Don\'t that that will ever happen huh?  Well how many of you would have thought Sony would have screwed up so bad like they have, I mean they basically have made as many of Mistakes as Nintendo and SEGA have in the past.  All it would take is Square or EA rejecting Sony and its all over.  You may think thats impossible now, but you never know.

I dont have the time (too much stuff going on in my life right now)or the same desire to defend the DC anymore since most Sony fans in this forum have developed a great deal of respect towards DC in the last couple of months... but i just can\'t help myself and i want to say some things:

1. Sega is owned by CSK - they make 6 billion dollars a year and they are 100% behind Sega so even if Sega continues to lose millions ( wich is unlikely at this point since there have been a DC sales surge in USA& Europe, they are doing some interesting changes with their business strategies in Japan and they are introducing DC to new markets like India) they are still going to survive because CSK believes that they can rebuild Sega and turn it into a profitable company once again.

2.The cheaper the game the more units it will sell so expect budget Ps2 titles in the near future as well. Cheap games doesnt mean a system is in trouble. There have been $19.99 PSX games since \'96 and the system is still going strong in 2000.

3. If you thought that the software Sega released this year for DC was impressive... Wait until you see what they have in store for 2001!!! Sega wants DC to succed and they have a very attractive lineup of original titles, sequels of new DC franchises and sequels of games of old that will continue to attract both the hardcore and the casual gamer.

Sega was the surprise success in 2000 (without a new Sonic title and without Seganet for the most part of the year) and with the 3rd generation of DC titles coming up (can you say SHENMUE 2?? How about PHANTASY STAR ONLINE??? HEARD ABOUT SONIC ADVENTURE 2????) the DC will be able to hold it\'s own agaisnt the wonderful 2nd gen Ps2 titles as well as the intriguing 1st gen Xbox titles.

Ps2 Fanboys, Beware of DC in 2001!!!!!

Astro

.....the PS2 is well past 3 million units sold....but in Japan. I won\'t find the source of this info since its been mentioned many times before. I also believe they sold a million units in Japan in just 3 days. Of course, they still sold out.
