Is it true about standing your PS2 Vertically...???
« on: December 20, 2000, 11:27:49 AM »
I was in my Local EB when a guy came in with his Copy of Fifa 2001 that he bought there. He told the clerk that he didnt drop or scratch it himself. He also told the clerks that he used his PS2 along with a Vertical Stand. They said that they had heard rumors about games getting scratched while the PS2 is Vertical. I hope they dont, cuz I like the way my PS2 looks while it is Vertical! Can anyone confirm that this does or does not cause games to be scratched???

Thanks, Matt :D

P.s- check out my new MGS2 Wallpaper. it is in the Main Forum!

Man I would say it\'s hit-and-miss.  I\'ve run mine vertical from day 1 for all games and DVDs.  No problems.  If you start to have problems try something else.  But realize if your disc starts to get scratched there may be something wrong with the CD tray no matter which way you turn it.

Your disc can and will be scratched if you move the PS2 while a disc is in it and its standing vertical. I\'ve noticed alot of people make that mistake.

I got my psx2 a week ago and i have had it standing vertically sense i have had it and i dont have a scratch 1 on ony of my games. The scratches come from people that dont know how to handle their cds properly.

I actually have had some problems when running DVD movies when my PS2 was verticle.  I put in one of the discs from From the Earth to the Moon and noticed that the television screen would turn black repeatedly thus making movie unwatchable.  Thinking that it might be the discs\' fault, I went into the living room and put the disc in my main DVD player but it worked just fine.  I\'ve since tried several other movies and they have all been doing the same thing but when I placed the PS2 horizontally I found no problems.

BTW this problem  has been isolated to movies as I have yet to run into problems with any of my games.

What is the point of the horizontal stand, it\'s already horizontal!

My disks\'ve got no scratches, but if they do get, I know it\'s because of the machine \'cause I protect all my games better than anything else... :)

I\'ve had trouble with Gladiator (as almost everyone) and some movie, which was on a disk so scratched you could use it to grate cheese... damn rental DVD\'s... In both cases the PS2 was vertical.
